He would no longer be a beltholder if he fought Johnson next because the IBF would strip him for not fighting Cloud next, as mandated. It's not going to happen because Dawson doesn't want to fight Diaconu, or rematch Johnson, by all accounts.

    Chads not worth it.

After Jones, Kelly Pavlik is the only one worth staying around for...

They plus Cloud are all good options, but I would prefer if goes for Diaconu but the fight can't be made anyway.

He should fight Johnson in a rematch, then go after some straps, it does not both me which one's (WBO,WBC,WBA). If he get two more, to go with his IBF, then he will be in a strong position and people will have to come to him.

I think the best fight would be against winner of Calzaghe-Jones, but unless Jones wins, I don't see any chance, Joe will retire after this.
If he faces Calzaghe he would probably lose, because Calzaghe has a similar style to Johnson, he just simply does it better. And I think Johnson was robbed against Dawson, I will never forget the post-fight interview with Glen, how sad and disappointed he was. And I will also never forget Dawson's face, who knew exactly that he lost that fight.

So I would say be fair and give him a rematch. On the other hand fights against Diaconu, Erdei or Garay also make sense (IMO much more sense than this Tarver fight could mean - all of these 3 would beat Tarver, I am convinced). Garay would be the hardest for him, he is also like Johnson. He would struggle with Erdei's very defensive style also, but I think he outworks him. Anyway, there is no money in these 3 fights unfortunately. If Pavlik beats B-hop, I think he will come next. And he will beat Dawson.

My problem about Chad is his questionable defence and chin.

I say Winner of Calzaghe vs RJJ just because he would be paid pretty well but wouldn't mind seeing the Diacanu fight or rematch with Glen Johnson

I would love to finally someone fight Erdei and either get his fringe lineal title or prove he is real deal.

lovely avatar.. I think Dawson should fight both Diaconu and Erdei as his next two fights.. Calzaghe won't fight him and he shouldn't worry about Pavlik or Taylor as they'll be busy at 168..
