    There is a winner of Pavilk / Hopkins option... So I presume you're giving Hopkins no chances in this one? We'll see very soon how it ends...

    Importantly, should Hopkins win, then whom is Calzaghe going to fight in his final fight? Not that many options out there. Tarver and Pavlik would both be coming off losses, so wouldn't be attractive at all - from a legacy point of view. So I think a Hopkins win makes Dawson - Calzaghe much more likely.

    But if Hopkins loses, and Calzaghe - Pavlik goes ahead, then Dawson - Hopkins might actually be a pretty sound option. If Dawson wins in a better fashion than both Calzaghe and Pavlik then his challenge to Joe would gain a lot of credibility.

    Hopkins would be a tough fight for Dawson but you can bet they won't fight.

    I agree that Hopkins is a tough fight for pretty much anyone.
    But why do you think Hopkins - Dawson is no go? Arriba's points sound good to me.

    I see, never thought of that. Has Dawson got some sort of long term contract with Showtime? I know they've been showing his last couple of fights, but I reckoned that rights to these are typically sold to the highest bidder. And HBO could well be interested in Bad Chad in the future...

    Dawson is got a contract with Showtime,they were one of the reasons the Diaconu fight didn't happen.I'm sure they won't let him fight a HBO fighter

    I need to eat a little crow about Dawson. I have been critical of him lately ur he looked good against Tarver.

    I think Dawson would UD Calzaghe and KO Glass Jaw Roy Jones.

    i'm just fed up with the ibf ordering guys to fight there mandatories every 5 seconds. i agree with mandatories but the ibf need to stop stripping guys at the rate there doing.

    i think the wbc were hasty in stripping dawson. everyone knew the tarver fight was on the horizon. showtime has been building it up for a year or so.

    now tarver is out of the way why not diaconu. the division is hardly loaded.

    i didn't mention calzaghe cos i think he will retire after the jones fight.

    but in respect everyone knew the tarver fight was coming up.

    i'd like to see the wbc do all they can to suit both parties in situations like that.

    they just stripped dawson for fighting a guy higher in the rankings than diaconu.

    diaconu is a virtual unknown.

    tarver was always gonna be first. :roll:

    Tarver wasn't in their rankings so he wasn't higher ranked at the time,and he had a bad last 2 years.Honestly don't want to get into this,just stating some things

    i meant independent rankings.

    i know that u don't get ranked if u hold another title.

    just looking at diaconu's record.

    dawson would box his head off.

    116-111 scores against andre thysse. :lol:

    Well, Erdei is now scheduled to fight Dean Francis :barf

    My optimism got punished yet again. I really hope one of these easy defenses goes horribly wrong for Zsolt... I wouldn't mind if he got forcibly retired.

    btw. Has anyone heard of Francis? Boxrec rates him above Clinton Woods. And I know.... boxrec is not exactly a paragon or trustworthiness, but it suggests he can't be utter garbage... Or am I still being too optimistic?
