Whoooaa! Hopkins vs Pavlik could be 10 rounds!

  1. That's straight from Kelly's mouth, they're finalizing the details as we speak! That Hopkins he's a clever fellow isn't he? :smooch

When you think about it though this is better this way Hopkins age won't factor in his stamina as much so it's better all round for everyone. He can't go 12 rounds @ his age so @ least by doing fewer rounds both fighters will be on a more level playing field.

p.s. Kelly also said "Calzaghe won't take a fight (with me) for nothin!'" lol. Word Pavlik! :deal

Hopkins lost the Ring light heavyweight title to Calzaghe last April.

Pavlik is champion at 160 so there is no way his titles can be on the line. So no, there are no titles up for grabs here.

There wasn't any title on the line for Pavlik/Taylor II and that was also 12 rounds. I reckon they'll get around it, so it is a 12 rounder. It's too big of a fight to go just 10.

The longer it goes, the more it suits Pavlik, so I imagine Arum will sort it out.

And some of you think Hopkins isn't feeling his age? This is baaad news for anyone picking Hopkins to win, even he doesn't think he can win a 12 rounder.

This would be great all around for the reasons you mentioned. It would give people more bang for their PPV dollars. But it has to favor Hopkins a lot more than it favors Pavlik.

I agree that cutting the match two rounds short doesn't do the matchup justice.

The Pavlik Taylor II fight was fought at a catchweight of 166 that's why the title wasn't on the line.

This clearly favours Hopkins. Surley Pavilk will say no.
