It could. Though I feel like I ought to turn my nose up at this shameless cash grab, I'm interested and not sure who I'm rooting for. :hsughwiggle:

I hope Chavez pulls this off. would be funny after all the cherry picking Oscar and golden boy have done since the lara fight.

Chavez very well can. If he comes in prepared and focused he can very well be just big enough to be able to absorb Canelo's punches and pressure the hell out of Canelo while landing his own punches. His punches will hurt more than possibly anyone who Canelo has ever fought. Not because he's necessarily a P4P, he does have a nice left hook to the body, but just because Canelo has never fought such a big opponent.

Similar to what happened with Mosley and Wright, despite Mosley likely still under the effects from the Cream and the Clear the size different was a huge factor.

Chavez is naturally a bigger man, that will make a difference. Its Chavez best weapon against him, and a focused and fit Jr. Stands a good chance if he manages to bust a Margarito-Cotto I, he nearly did it against a mobile Martinez.

Jr. looks huge. When do we stop supporting these freak shows? This isn't a boxing match, a competition of skills, style or power - this a competition who manipulates his natural body fluids and rehydrate better.

That size difference is much bigger than I thought it would be and Chavez looks to be in decent shape. This could be a really good fight. As much as I don't want there to be any more roadblocks to finally seeing GGG vs Canelo, I will be crossing my fingers Chavez makes weight without becoming too much of a zombie and we get a real war!

    This.

He's got arguably the best conditioning coach working with him, and no doubt Chavez Sr is lighting a fire under his butt to beat ODLH's protege. There should be like some sort of "cheeseburger reward" for Junior if he wins. Maybe he gets to hit the eat all you want buffets chaperoned by Dustin Nichols?

I know that Canelo is the better fighter p4p. But Canelo is used to being the bigger guy, and here he is quite a bit smaller. Canelo also has a gassing problem and Chavez goes well to the body. Also add to this fact that Junior inherited daddy's chin, and I think that if he really wants it, he could beat the pulp out of Canelo.

Respect to Chavez for stepping up for a huge challenge (him making the weight)...if he comes in shape it makes for a great fight style wise. I'm a GGG fan so hoping for an upset Chavez win which is possible...if he comes in dedicated.

as of a couple of days ago, he was weighing 180.
Considering when the fight is, that's pretty much on point

That's excellent news for JCC and greatly boosts his chance I feel.

Size will make no difference in this fight, Chavez will simply plod forward get easily countered & sustain massive body shots from both sides until he breaks down & either quits or the fight is stopped. Alvarez thrives off pressure & Chavez has the perfect style for Canelo to pick apart. Fight will resemble the Smith or Anglo fights.

Does Oscar ever let Canelo out of his sight or does he have his head up his butt 24/7?:ARMS1:

if you're a GGG fan why do you want Chavez to win? that definitely puts the GGG/Canelo fight off for at least another year or 2

Because Canelo is a prima donna and needs to know his place. He's not nearly as good as the purses he commands and he uses his earning power to impose shyte conditions on his opponents that enable him to win. Frankly while I'd like to see GGG fight Canelo, I'd like to see El Pollo taken down a notch even more. If Chavez KO's Canelo, I'd be just as happy to see Golovin fight Chavez.
