Lets say we all get a clear winner after the smoke clears with this whole SSM-FMJ-MP triangle and Williams comes and beat the winner is he number 1?

    Williams? Nope.

Williams needs to go back up and see Martinez OR stay down at WW for the next 3 years or so AND have meaningful fights. I am talking straight division sweeping old school undisputed stuff. Then he has to HOPE Martinez looks average and/or falls off. Martinez will call him out again if he looks good. IMHO that cloud will keep him out of the #1 P4P spot.

At 6 foot and change? I doubt that he can stay at WW much longer.

He proabably could've if they didn't push for 160, but yes I doubt 147 has anything to offer Williams. I think a fight between him and Cotto would be nice, but once again promotion comes into play. That darn Arum may not let it happen.

Bull****. What if Mayweather beat Mosley, and went on to beat Paul Williams and Sergio Martinez at 154 coming off a win at 160 against Pavlik, while Pac edges past Clottey and then Yuri Foreman?

Of course I'm not saying that will happen, but you have to cement your place as the P4P #1. If Mayweather beats Mosley, he becomes the top man in the sport. Mosley is top 4 P4P right now, where is Clottey?

in the eyeas of floydettes, mosley is number 4..but in the eyes of the smart ones, mosley is just overrated..if only margarito uses his special weapon then we would see what happened to cotto

Over-rated? I bet before the Floyd fight was announced, he was going to destroy Floyd, right?

In hindsight, the Margarito fight suited him to a tee, but he's still an elite fighter, and it is what it is. He is top 4/5 pound-for-pound and a far better opponent than Clottey. Therefore if May wins, he goes top.

pacquiao stays on top of the ratings unless he loses to clottey. If he wins in spectacular fashion showing all his goods he cements his place at the top especially if the Floyd-mosley bout ends up like the floyd-DLH snoozer regardless of the winner.

I was replying to someone who believed Mayweather was still #1 P4P just because he came back from "retirement", having been #1 P4P before he "retired."
I'm a Mayweather fan, but im not naive enough to believe that just because Floyd is the former #1 P4P, and is unbeaten, he should come back after a year and a half/two years inactivity and reclaim the P4P spot. Boxing didn't stand still while he was away, it's not as if there weren't any big bouts happening at Welterweight, or any other division for that matter.
He also stated that Floyd should be or still is the lineal Welterweight Champion because he is still unbeaten at 147lbs...?

De la Hoya v Pacquiao was a big bout.
Hatton v Pacquiao was a big bout.
Both wins, including the Cotto win are the reason Pacquiao is currently #1 P4P.

And yes I do believe Marquez should have won the second bout against Pacquiao, but what can you do???

You're right a Floydette would argue that Mosley will beat Pac and Floyd. If you didn't Pac's man meat down your throat maybe you could think straight.

i dont think mayweather shoulod go number 1 no matter how good his result is against mosley.. mainly due to level of activity & the fact that his last fight was against a blown up JMM... that combined with a mosley win isnt better than pac takin on two top tier WW's in cotto & clottey

pacs number 1 until he looses imo
