Who's a better all round fighter, Pacquao or Calzaghe?

Is this question a joke or what ?

 

I give Calzaghe the advantage in everything except for power. And yes, I'm taking into account the fact that Calzaghe was a hard puncher in his prime. I think Pacquiao has demonstrated p4p better power than Joe. But Calzaghe is far better in every other category.

Because of that, I'm going with Calzaghe, but in a hypothetical p4p fight, I'd give Pacquiao more than a good chance due to his phenomenal power.

 

get off it!!! pacman is a far superior fighter. as proven with a much better career.

far better in every category??? you are kidding. pac's defence is better, pac's angles are better. pac's speed is better. and when you combine the fact that pac's the harder puncher, then you have a much superior fighter than cal.

 

These anonymous polls allow every Calzaghe troll under the sun to crawl out from beneath their sewer-grates and vote with impunity. This poll is far closer than it should be. A vote for Calzaghe is completely unjustifiable. This is like asking who was better between Aaron Pryor and Ray Leonard - one is a HOF fighter who reigned in a feeble weight class and has a sketchy resume, the other is a stone-cold ATG who beat the best of his era and scaled multiple weight classes.

This is tough, they both are but I believe that Calzaghe is a once in a generation type fighter. He's in the category of Floyd Mayweahter ... when I first seen Calzaghe fight, I was like yeah, this guy will never lose a fight. He's fast, crafty, relentless (I never seen him backed up) he has power, savvy, and great defense. He was knocked down but I never seem him truly hurt and he believed in himself ... Something that a lot of fighters don't do, they need motivation but this guy never went into the ring thinking he would lose and he always turned on his game face. He told Hopkins he would lose and he did ... he said I don't care what color you are, if you face me you will lose.

Pacquiao is great but he doesn't have the balance that Calzaghe does ... but he's strong and powerful ... and he's face ... damn they are too close but I'd give the edge to Calzaghe because when it came time to box, he did and he outboxed some good fighters. When Pacquiao tries to box it looks ugly ...

 

Well, except he obviously isn't, in any way, at all in the category of Floyd Mayweather, who was completely different and vastly superior. If it's the zero you were referring to, then Calzaghe is closer in terms of opposition fought to Sven Ottke than to Floyd Mayweather.

Calzaghe would've knocked Sven Ottke out ... that's why he was ducked by Ottke ... and yes it is the 0 i'm referring to ... the 21-0 in title fights ... the 6 world title belts and 2 linear championships ... him fighting over 10 former/current champions including the reigning LHW champion of the world. He won when it counted and he could box ... he lead, countered, and he was able to press the action with precision punching. He outboxed more boxers and I mean actual boxers than Pacquiao did.

Floyd has been in more title fights than Pacquiao ... had more title defenses than Pacquao and fought more championship than Pacquiao and he's an overall better boxer than Pacquiao. Always challenged for the title nothing vacant.

 

Calzaghe can jab and fight on the inside. I've never seen Pac step into a phone booth and fight. Pac puts pressure on and can punch in combinations from all angles. Both had trouble with superior boxers. Very hard question to answer. Cal imo could do more in the ring skill wise, but Pac has better resume and more power for his weight class.
