Who's a better all round fighter, Pacquao or Calzaghe?

:goodgreat point. and pacquiao also had the balls to fight him twice instead of run off with a suspect win and claim he was the greatest. pacquiao all day. calzaghe fights one type of fight, quantity. he just found a glitch in the scoring system and was blessed with the stamina and chin to exploit it. as least pac put his skills up against a lot of great fighters through many different weights. the resume speaks for itself.

roy jones didn't look bad against hopkins. neither did segundo mercado. if hopkins is going to lean in when he punches, step to the side and uppercut. taylor did it in the second match and neutralized many of hopkins outside fighting.

 

If they were in the same weight class Pacman would stop Calzaghe in 9 rounds. Calzaghe could not throw an accumalation of punches like that without getting caugt. Believe me Mitchell had Calzaghe on ***** street and if that was pac in there Calzaghe would have been finished,same with the Jones knockdown. In fact looking back at when Calzaghe gets dropped i wouldnt be surprised to see Calzaghe knocked out early. I think Calzaghe is a great fighter and future HOF but Pacman is better. Pac has fought way better comp in fact i think Morales,Barrera,Marquez are better than Calzaghe. Pac has the big edge in power,speed(yes even if Joe was 140 pac would still be faster) Boxing abilities are about equal, Calzaghes got the edge in defense, and although pac was knocked out early in his career his chin seems to be the goods now so id say pac has the better chin too. Pac just to explosive for Calzaghe and hed never let him off the hook.

 

Seriously the more i read your post the more idiotic it gets. When you have a carrer spanning half of the existing weight limits of modern boxing, is it just natural to even up the fight a bit. And that evening up is just 1 ****ing pound down your last weight-in against a fighter who's fighting weight is 12 lbs lower than you. And don't tell me Cotto doesn't have incentive, **** then Bhop should get some acid, Mosley (who fought at 154 and now back at 147) and any other friggin boxer who accomodated a smaller man to make a fight. (hear that Sweat Pea?)

But then i guess you conveniently forgot that your idol JCC ask Pea to come down in weight in their "linear", P4P WW fight, or that the "higher" ATG DLH was squezing his "small" frame to 130 and beating "great fighter" Hernandez, Ruellas asked for a catchweight MW linear title fight. Or that El Terrible, great as he is, was dominating SBW with his small 5'11" frame that made his an 122 ATG but cannot carry that devastating performance at 130 and 135. I guess he would have fought Cotto at 147 mark. But we wont know coz he never fought above 135 now did he?

Anyway all fighter who asked for a catchweight is *****, never mind the other fighter had come up not one, two, three, but 5 weight class below, and that skipping such number of divisions is so easy that we have plethora of 3 division champions, even with Jr. weights in between.

 

This thread can run for a hundred years if Bazooka and the rest of the haters/morons want it to, but the points above are bulletproof. Pacquiao looked better while beating better fighters. End of story.

 

Your only point seems to be that Joe is undefeated and Pac isn't.

Reid was prime back then and to beat a guy of his calibre one handed is a feat that should not be overlooked, not something to try and tarnish a guy with. Obviously you havnt seen the Ashira fight either as his one handed shut out was actually quite impressive.

David Starie was no bum. He was good enough to beat Clinton Woods for a start. he was also a British and Commonwealth champion. Joe dominated him. Brewer was an ex-world champ and got dominated. Jiminez had only lost once before and had been a regional chapion and was utterly dominated. Salem was a dirty ******* and apart from a single shot pretty much got dominated too on a Clazaghe off night. Thornberry at the time was unbeaten and yet again he was another one that got dominated.

You do know in boxing you dont have to KO people to be good? Frazier got bounced around like a space hopper by Foreman, does that make Ali going the distance with him in any way shameful? hearns knocked Duran the **** out, but Duran took Hagler the distance. So what? Yes KO artists are exciting but its no more of a sign of a great boxer as being able to outbox people over 12.
