Bernard Hopkins or Floyd Mayweather? I think Hopkins is definetly better p4p and even all around in terms of skills. Just think about if Hopkins had the speed Mayweather had, the rest is history. Mayweather would be average without his speed. When mayweather can make a good fighter like Calzaghe with the speed and workrate he has not land hardly any telling blows the whole fight, than mayweather got something.

but mayweather had his speed....using "if" doesnt change anything.

both are superb fighters but completely different.

True. But I think Hopkins can fight more styles than MAYWEATHER. Mayweather also doesn't have the ring intelligence Hopkins has. Hopkins can a fighters best weapons away from them and make them fight a style they even didn't train for. Mayweather can't do that IMO.

Basically even in both areas IMO. Neither are clearly above the other in terms of 'Greatness' or overall ability and skill.

Yeah but speed is only one thing. As far as over techinical skills, you'd have to favor Hopkins. Hopkins doesn't have the speed that Mayweather has and he's still impossible to tag cleanly, that's saying something. And Floyd ain't a better inside fighter than Hopkins either.

Floyd would have not lost to a Taylor quality opponent, twice. BHop may have been past prime but that was still a few years younger than he is now and most his big wins has come after that.

Ok if you wanna use that logic, Hopkins dominated a more primed De La Hoya than Mayweather did and he outboxed De La Hoya better than floyd not using his size adavantage. De La Hoya/Mayweather fight could of went either way.

And Taylor didn't really beat Hopkins 1 and 2 Floyd never fought a big strong athletic fighter like Taylor, so we don't know. I don't see Floyd fairing any better IMO, cause he's not as versatile as Hopkins.

DLH was ahead on the cards before the body shot took him out. Hopkins was in no way outboxing DLH. I think Floyd is a very clever fighter who always uses his skill, not his size to win a fight.

I went even... I have great respect for both fighters in these categories. Very hard to pick between them. Hmm....

was oscar ahead of hopkins on the cards? seriously?

he wasn't with me and hopkins was on the ascendancy.

even without the body shot i'd have bet my house on hopkins at that time.

I had DLH ahead but totally agree that he was on the verge of gassing and Hopkins was looking in control and just walking DLH down. It just became very obvious that DLH didnt have the power to discourage the nard.

And Hopkins fought him like he did have the power and still beat him to show people he was not only bigger but better. And De La Hoya was not ahead on all 3 judges scorecards, he was only ahead on 1.

I believe Bernard Hopkins is a greater fighter than Floyd Mayweather, but it is very close between them. Two modern greats IMO, both superbly skilled.
