Hmmm... I'll give Alvarez a slight edge just because of his competition and experience. I feel it's slightly better.

I wouldn't call Alvarez a power-puncher and that might be the difference right there.

As of now it seems like Alvarez has the better skills while Lemeuix is the better puncher. Most of the time skills win.

Lemeuix is a better prospect by the length of the Flemington straight.

Im not aboard the Alvarez train, he only just got over Cottos brother,
Lemeuix wouldve had that guy out in less than 3.

A big following actually has a LOT to do with a bright future...

if a lot of people show interest in someone...guess what...for the sake of making money...their promoter/manager is going to make sure this prospect does well...so that all these people can keep paying more and more to see their fighter become a superstar

i mean...it doesn't really take a genius to figure that one out :huh

having said that...that is only ONE aspect that helps a boxer's future be "bright"

Tough one. Alvares is definitely more skilled, but David is scary with that punching power. One thing that bothers me about David is that he over commits with his punches, to the point that his feet elevate off the ground at times, causing bad balance. Get someone who can exploit those flaws, and he is in big trouble. But than again, he is young and those things could be fixed. With that being said, I give a slight edge to David, cause he has something you just can't teach in punching power, along with solid fundementals.

More importantly who would win in a match at 154?

Both are going to have huge followings, in terms of who will rank higher, Alvarez. But Lemieux is going to be more exciting given that pop that he has. I see Alvarez having a career like ODLH, huge mainstream following, fights the best while winning some and losing some. I see Lemieux having a career like Tito, big but more specific following (French Canadians), losses to a slick fighter at the height of his career and losses some confidence.

I dont see Lemeuix ever fighting at 154. He's gonna be at 160 for awhile.

Alavez will prob grow into a 154 pounder one day.

If they actually fought right now at a catchweight or something.... Canelo's head would land in the lap of his model gf.

    I dont know.

Alvarez has some glaring weaknesses to me that if he doesnt fix, will find him falling short against elite comp IMO.

David, I simply havnt seen enough of and hasnt been tested enough maybe to really answer these questions.

    So I'm not sure.

I really like Alvarez though and David is growing on me, its refreshing to see boxings new faces on the rise :good

Though I agree, Lemieux did fight his first 10 fights at 154 and Alvarez has fought over 147 his last 3 fights. Also didn't you make a post about Angulo vs. Lemieux?

Yeah, assuming that Angulo would move up.

Angulo struggles to make 154 anyway.
