IMO Oscar's absolute peak was the time of the MA Gonzalez fight. Was that '97? It sure as ****ing hell wasn't 2007!!
If you do respond to this post Bill, I'd be interested in your 1-5 of Mayweather, Lewis, Calzaghe, Tyson and Pacquiao.
Lewis has good power?? Are you kidding me? Mayweather has good power; Lennox is a devastating puncher. Did you miss him icing Golota in 60 seconds, the same Golota who thrashed Bowe twice? And calling his jab "good" is not doing him any justice, either. His jab was better than good, it was excellent. As for his footwork being "plodding", explain to me how he stayed off the ropes and corners for the entire 12 rounds against Tua if he was such a plodding giant? I do agree that Mayweather is more skilled, but that's what you get with smaller boxers: they're always faster and more skilled than big guys. Lewis took on all comers and was ducked by both Bowe and Tyson (in '96, dropped his title and payed 4 million to avoid him), whereas some believe Floyd himself did some ducking. Plus, Lewis had to fight them in their own backyards. Now i do think very highly of Floyd, a true master boxer that will go down in history as one of the greats, but ultimately, Lewis beat better men. He did lose twice, but avenged both by domination. One of those losses came when he was 35, plus you could make a case for Floyd losing to Castillo (also avenged, of course).
You rate Lewis win over ****ing Rahman and McCall higher the Mayweathers win over Corrales? tell me son, how much boxing have you actually watched the last 5 years?
Irrespective of whether they are or aren't (IMO Corrales is far better than either), Hoya's real point was that Lewis has an all-round stronger, better and deeper win resume. And he does.
longetivity? they have the same amount of time on the top...more or less ten years...longetivity doesnt make that big of a deciding factor
