Chavez-Ward...wow. :tired (this is meant to represent drooling, not falling asleep...damn ambiguous emoticons!)
haha damn straight. still, i got the 3 fights with gatti, a war with augustus, and the destruction of neary to keep me happy
Now i am white and ordinarily i would never dream of using this term but so aghast am i at the suggestion the Hatton might do ANYTHING better than the legendary Marco Antonia Barrera force me to say ***** Please !!!!!!
He he he censored , but you get the picture ! hatton better then Barrera , Jesus thats gonna ruin my weekend
You don't think Hatton would just box Ward's head off, as he did to Tackie? Hatton was a good body hitter, very good actually, but his best punch was his straight right hand - which he never used hardly ever. He could diguise it really well and follow it up with a left hook to head or body..... but chose to be hook happy :-(
Indeed , Ward was a hero no question but he was pretty limited , Ricky could box pretty well when we wanted to I'd fancy him to outpoint Mickey. Jesus , Arturo Gatti made him look bewildered on any occasion he chose to box .
Ricky's soft physically and mentally. When he can't push a guy back with his swarming, he's more apt to pout and languish/grab than to adjust. A relentless digger like Ward would strike down to the bedrock and leave a gaping hole in his middle. Ricky would be nonplussed enough by that shovel to quit on his stool before going out on his shield. Ricky would certainly win early rounds. Across twelve - or even ten - he fails to last, IMO.
That's true. For all the stick I give Ricky, when matched up correctly he was capable of making one half of a spectacular fight.
Interesting point. Mentally he is pretty fragile, has been for a couple of years, but I'd say the absolute best version of Hatton, between the Stewart and Tszyu fights would outpoint Ward pretty conclusively. Physically he was as strong as an ox when he was working with Kerry Kayes, since switching to Mayweather he hasn't worked with a strength coach..... it wasn't really necessary against Paulie, but against Pac it would have helped greatly. The result wouldn't be any different, though he may have lasted a bit longer and made more of an impression.
