Who's better? Cotto or Williams??

Margo never allowed Cotto to build momentum because he was fighting with a 10 story brick building in his gloves. It's kinda hard to get momentum against that.:deal

Margo isn't a good pressure fighter he's one-dimensional plodder.:deal Just because you come forward doesn't mean you're a good pressure fighter. Margo is an mental midget in the ring who doesn't know how to cut off a ring, throw a jab or throw straight punches. His style is so easy to beat either clinch him and not let him get into a rhythm push off and beat him to the punch or be a slick boxer it's really that easy. Williams is a good pressure fighter JLC is a good pressure fighter Margo isn't he's a one-dimensional plodder with an above average chin who had to load his gloves to get by that's it.:deal

 

By that logic Cotto would've performed the way he did from 1 to 6 all the way to the final bell and put one of the worst beatings Margo has ever received. :think

 

Too true, they seem to think because he came forward against Cotto he was pressuring properly.

PLease.. Cotto when moved in and out when he wanted to, till the gloves took a toll on him.

 

I agree but Margo's loaded gloves to take the fight out of him.

 

I know it's funny as hell. Margo is limited and flawed as hell.

 

JLC and Margo fight the same way pretty much...Margo IS a pressure fighter.

He is only effective when he has to fight in a closet or in really close quarters. Without that he sucks.

Sure they have a "pressure" style.

But Margo is not fast, doesn't throw straight punches, has horrible footwork, doesn't know how to cut off the ring and lacks a defense.

Most of Margos punches have him cocking his arm back all the time.

Note the reason he gets a windmill nickname.

 

I couldn't disagree more. A prime JLC was a much more effective pressure fighter than Margo could ever dream about and about the only thing they have in common is that they are both Mexican. JLC used a jab to get inside and get to the body where he could work his magic. JLC had better handspeed, JLC had better power. JLC was the better inside and outside fighter. JLC could actually cut off a ring. JLC threw much straighter and more accurate punches. JLC actually had decent headmovement and defense. JLC had a highre ring IQ. In closing JLC is lightyears beyond Margo in terms skills it's not close.

 

Hey how do you guys rate Williams' defense?

 

Average at best.

 

Williams has good defense compared to Margo and he knows how to and can fight tall well. I think paul would fight tall untill he knew he had cotto, then proceed to fight inside.
