Let's forget for a moment about who's favored, who stylistically is believed to have an advantage, and who we personally just like more and focus on who would be a greater figure for the sport of boxing if they should win their upcoming fight. By figure I mean from a marketing standpoint, who would be a bigger future draw, crossover potential, etc. Tell me why you think the fighter (x) would do more for the sport than fighter (y). Katsidis -v- Diaz Casamayor -v- JMM Guzmon -v- Campbell Mosley -v- Mayorga Jones -v- Calzaghe
Diaz ... bigger Mex public Casamayor ... JMM never was a true draw and never will Guzman ... he may follow Cotto way Mosley .... no need to explain Jones .... Calzaghe never get proper credit outside Brit
Diaz- mexican love boxing and especially when we have a fighter like diaz. Jmm- he can secure a fight with pac if he wins impressively and again mexican he has to be a draw look at his last fight Campbell- think of the rematch with diaz. That has foty written all over it Mosley- obvious. Although if mayorga was to win a matchup with margo would be salivating Calzaghe- jones although not completely shot I can't see beating pavlik. Calzaghe can.
Other than your Jones opinion, I disagree with the rest of your assessment and here's why: Commercial sports coverage always looks for the next white hype and Katsidis is an action fighter who wheres a Greek helmet and enters the ring to the sound of Maximus' voice. Enough said. If JMM wins it potentially sets up a 3rd showdown between him and Pac which would do big PPV numbers Campbell has a great mouth and boxing can always use smack talkers who are openly critical of the sport's deficiencies. Mosley is old and there is always a market for a brawler who talks trash so I'd say Mayorga.
Who gives a ****, from your point of view Oscar is probably better for the sport than any other boxer. This thread sucks are you getting any money from those fighters?
