Who's Boycotting Haye v Harrison and won't buy the PPV

I could care less about this fight, except in the off change Audley KO's him.

A British fighter fighting one of the P4P best, a live opponent, fighting the REAL Heavy Weight Champion of the world, none of this ABC spaghetti belt garbage.

It doesn't matter if you think oh it will only cost the PPV £500 or £1000. It is a principle. When enough people complained about call centres for banks being in India etc, some banks started going back to UK bases as a selling point. Public power can and does make an impact.

If every person who thinks this is a joke fight stood by their convictions and refused to pay for it, then it would make a difference. Sky would be dissapointed, it would impact upon future decisions even if only in a small way.

You pay for this and you are supporting the **** match makers and the rip off merchants. You can tell yourself one person makes no difference but then don't bother voting either. By lining Haye and Skys coffers and contributing your £15 you are validating their decision to make this fight and encouraging them to do the same **** in the future.

 

We could be watching Vitali or Vlad Vs. Haye, but no.......................

The big difference is the Indian call centres had complaints off the same customers that were using the banking service. Sky is getting complaints off hardcore boxing fans that ARN'T even the same people that it wants to sell the Haye-Harrison PPV to.

Boycott it if you want but don't kid yourself it'll make the slightest difference either in the short term or the long term to Skys PPV boxing.

Of course you can pay for this PPV and ***** about **** fights. That you've made a choice in one instance to pay 15 quid for a nights entertainment doesn't mean you can't have a different opinion on another fight.


The "Indian call centre" analogy that Strike mentioned doesn't hold because the people talking of boycotting the fight, the "hardcore boxing fan", arn't even the same demographic that Sky needs to sell the PPV to make the money it wants.

Either buy the fight or don't as you see fit but don't think for one moment that you're making a blind bit of difference to this PPV or to any other future PPVs.

People were talking of "principles" and not paying when Sky started to introduce PPV boxing in the UK a few years back yet they are all forking out for it now. Are they to blame for this fight happening because they didn't stick to their "prinicples" or have no "self respect"?

It's the same post from ages ago you replied to there. Anyway, I still stand by it.

They can have an opinion on another fight, but I would consider them a hypocrite in that case.

My gripe isn't about the cost, it's the fact that paying for fights like this encourages promoters and boxers to duck, dodge and fight **** poor opponents thus ruining the sport. I don't mind forking out a few bob for something if it is worthy. Boxing is a business at the end of the day and naturally they will up the prices if they can. I'll pay top dollar (within reason) if I'm being handed a quality card.

 

Fights like this arn't getting funded by the likes of "us" though, thats the problem with all this boycott and "principles" lark.

Anyone who pays for the PPV is in part funding it. The fact the casual fan majority funding it don't feel the same way about it as the hard core fan is irrelevant.

This is just how I feel about it, and if it makes me sound like a high and mighty cockhead then so be it.

 

We'll have to agree to disagree then. A few dozen boxing fans not buying the PPV seems more like " throwing rattles out of the pram" than worthwhile protest to me.

Given the type and sheer number of sports fans who will buy this PPV the people on here who choose to buy it arn't in any realistic way shaping the future of Sky PPV or the quality of boxing matchups IMHO and thats the bottom line for me. Its more than a little harsh to blame boxings ills on the people who bough Haye-Harrison or to say they can't complain about those ills.
