Who's bright idea was it to put Jose Roman against Foreman?

Well, Roman sure tried to fly like a butterfly, and got plastered against the wall...

 

Ah Roman studied the Rocky Marciano instructional book of boxing.

Yes Roman was overmatched against Foreman, however simple fact is Roman only lasted one less round than Frazier did in losing title to Foreman, and one less round than Norton who Foreman beat in his next fight.

At least Roman is in the record books, as first Puerto Rican to challege for World Heavyweight title.

Roman fought Terry Daniels on the undercard and Ken Norton beat Henry Clark. Both Roman and Norton would get title shots before Ali would get a shot at regaining the crown.

Manuel Charr reminds me of Joe "King" Roman. Charr used to show up at other boxers' press conferences, too, and call them out.

I remember when Charr did it at a David Haye press conference, and Haye didn't even know who he was. Later, they signed to fight. But, like most Charr fights, it got cancelled.

 

It beats me. The great Jose Roman is humiliated by George Foreman, while the mediocre Muhammad Ali beats George Foreman? {{{GASP!}}} It must have been a styles thingy.

George Foreman did need work on the heavy bag, Joe King Roman was that heavy bag.
