I think that the fighters agreements would be with the promoter and not each other as such....and that might complicate matters at this point. I could be wrong :?

Jacobs was a bit silly having a public conversation about something without stating the limits of his knowledge. Didn't he also make the comment about those answering the phone in Mexico? It's a shame, but he needed to learn.

I suspect the contract terms were still up for discussion and Vazquez was being a smart arse. I feel for Burns more. There are all sorts of rumours that probably weren't filling him with confidence!

You're right. The deal is from both fighters to the promoter. There will be a restriction on fighting within a certain contractual period to stop fighters cancelling for a better fight at the last minute.

Im optimistic simply cos I have to be with Burns. The other option doesnt bear thinking about, that Rickys blown it completely, & will be happy to hoover up the cash fighting to[p 10 WBO guys! Rickys always went on about how he will fight anyone, but titles can change a man. Once the moneys rolling in, they lose perspective of where they stand in the boxing world. It happened with Scotty, my favourite fighter got so deluded he thought he was bigger than Juan Manuel Marquez at one point:-(

Im optimistic cos Im scared stiff that Burns is on the route to just another belt holder instead of the greatest fighter that Scotland has ever produced... Scotty had an offer from Marquez at one point & Maloney knocked it back, with some godawful quote from Scotty that I wont repeat! Burns has had an offer from Broner & knocked it back with the lesser fighter but still big name enough Vasquez looking dead in the water too, I see history repeating itself & the thought of Rickster retiring as a comfortable WBO belt holder frightens the life out of me as a scottish boxing fan.

As for Alex Morrison, dont tempt me to go on yet another rant about him! I just hope Eddie can gradually ease him out of the picture with Burns, once & for all.

Theres me being an optimist again:D

I realise that there could be an unresolved issue with contracts that could preclude a fight at the moment, but I presume this is being looked into?

I would have thought we would have got to the bottom of the whole Vazquez issue by now, yet all we really know is what people are guessing.

He was beyond silly really, especially when he was chatting about the business dealings of a man with a legal hair trigger finger. We all drop bollocks like that, but not always so publicly......I suspect he feels a right **** about it now, every time someone googles his credentials in the future that episode will pop up.

To be fair to Burns Vazquez didn't help the rumour mill by acting like a complete twat and drama queen

Would Frank still have an option on Vazquez for the 20th April or would the option be for Burns and Burns only?

Being a real nosey ******* this part is really frustrating

Your first post gave me a glimmer of hope but now you've reverted to depressing Jock again . Im going to bed with a heavy heart now, thanks fella :thumbsup

Thats the nub of it right there, he was just two wins away from achieving that :-(

That Vasquez team havent been more vocal about the fight falling through is interesting. Look at the way Hearn/Brook reacted to the Alexander stuff. Frank would be the same.

He wouldnt be standar practice, I especially doubt he would have the option as he signed for a unification. Even so Franks not gonna pay Vasquez whatever he agreed to pay him for Burns to fight Mitchell, and the IBF wouldn't approve it.

The great man Ken Buchanan said it himself, if Ricky beats Vasquez & Broner, hes the best Scotland has ever had.

Its a big salvage operation for Eddie Hearn, but reading here, if anyone can pull it off, its him. Fingers crossed.

How do you know what was signed? Have you been shown the actual contract?

Kens not wrong, but he might now have to start thinking about jumping a weight to catch Broner or another really meaningful fight beyond Vazquez

    I'd be interested to know

Do you think a fight with Scot Harrison would really help?
