I'm not the one saying he's an ATG you are, it's up to you to back up your claims. I've already admitted he's a HOF lock but that's about it.

For all his 'refined' boxing skills there's no doubt he's one of the most undisciplined boxers ever, you mentioned his loss to Peter but why the **** was he fighting '60lbs above his best weights'? it's because his fatass couldn't stay in shape and unlike other boxers who put on muscle mass when jumping up in weight Toney thought it could be done by eating more at Burger King :patsch

You log off fool. Toney is clearly a level above Cotto and is already a top 100 ATG.

We are not talking about an old, brain damaged, steroid cheat. We are talking about a young James Toney in his prime. You are judging a guy by his worst performances, and with your bias. You can **** on any fighter in that fashion. You are biased against the guy, or you have never trained enough to see how difficult it is to put on a display like he has done in many of his fights. :good

Yeah and the first time he bumped into his first real competition since he fought Nunn he lost back to back :nut

Your fellow Toney fan seems to think Toney's win over a shot to **** Holyfield is something to applaude so if Toney should get props for that why shouldn't we accept the same Toney who schooled a shot to **** Holyfield lost twice to Sam Peter

the fact that you just want to sweep what an absolute disgrace james toney is under the carpet means that you are nothing more than a delusional fanboy with a giant **** swinging from your forehead

shortnobs opinion in this thread = worthless :deal

Jirov could only beat the fighters that were put in front of him. So, those wins are not worthy of mention. He was an Olympic Gold Medalist and World Champion, and that can't be put down. If you had actually ever fought you would see the difficulty that James dealt with in beating Jirov. I know the sport. I don't need boxrec to make me look credible. It's not about record. It's about how you perform in fights with the bodies that are put in front of you. Jirov was a good fighter, and a tough *******. I know this because I saw him fight. :hi:

But Holyfield had a pretty good showing after that against a much bigger man in Nikolai V. and he deserved a draw or W in the first Peters fight, in my opinion. Masterful boxing there. Cotto's best win is ... ughghghghghghghghghhghgghhg Zab Judah. Zab is not elite in anything except speed and power, and never wins big fights. Cotto's run at 154 is smoke and mirrors, unfortunately. I expected him to destroy Pac. :good

Toney: wins over much naturally bigger guys who can arguably be called good fighters
Cotto: TKO loss to much much smaller man who can arguably be called a great fighter in an ATG sense and tight spots against Torres, Corley, and a greatest wins over Zab (ugh, once again) and Quintana. I think Mosley deserved the decision against Cotto, he was backpedaling in the last rounds.
    hmm.

Cotto couldnt hold Toney's jockstrap in terms of technical ability and natural skills

James fought Holyfield in 2003, and in my opinion and many more here, beat Sam in their 1st fight 3 years later. Their 2nd fight in 2007 was a disciplined and ready Sam Peter. He took what was left of James.

    Ridiculous and borderline offensive thread.

    Toney's resume as of 1991 >>>>> Cotto's entire career.
