Whos ducking who? Pavlik Or Calzaghe

I think we'll know after their next fights. Lets see if Pavlik wants to challenge for Calzaghes belts (seeing as joe cant make 160lb), & if so wether Calzaghe accepts or retires.

 

Pavlik certainly is not avoiding Joe. Joe is probaly just sidsteping Pavlik for a bigger easier payday with RJJ - in my opinion. I wouldn't really term it ducking though.

"Ducking" = avoiding your mandatory challenger. i.e. Diaconu was ducked by Dawson.

Pavlik didn't duck Calzaghe nor did Calzaghe duck Pavlik. Pavlik decided not to fight Calzaghe when Calzaghe proposed a fight after Lacy and Calzaghe decided not to fight Pavlik when Pavlik proposed a fight seeing that Calzaghe had signed to fight Jones and he himself was busy preparing to fight Hopkins. There was talk of the two of them getting it on after Kessler, but nothing materialised.

 

Nobody is ducking anyone, this is all promotion for their fight which will happen should they both win.

I would say

Ducking: Leaving early or hiding, sometimes in order to avoid a certain person or a group of people.


Nothing related to mandatory...What Dawson did is getting the money.

 

Well, is there something worse than "ducking" someone? No...and the worst thing you can do is avoid fighting your mandatory challenger, ergo...

On the other hand, you could argue e.g. Mayweather "avoided" Cotto (there was an expectation from the fans that they should fight, but Cotto was not Mayweather's mandatory challenger or anything...but people really wanted to see the fight.

Avoiding is not as bad as ducking, and the distinction is in use on this website as well as on others. Just because you didn't know it, it doesn't mean God had to to tell it me.:smooch

after the Calzaghe Vs Hopkins fight

we saw Calzaghe go after a 39 year old shot Roy Jones Jr. and Pavlik ending up fighting Hopkins, who is much more dangerous than a RJJ.
