Byrd had a much better chance of beating Jones. Only a moron would say John Ruiz was more dangerous. Ruiz is perhaps the worst beltholder of the last 25 years. Byrd at the time still had speed, quickness, movement and defense Ruiz had NONE of these things. Glass Jaw Roy Jones handpicked John Ruiz because he was the WORST of the beltholders at the time. :hi:

Some of these morons keep picking on the same guy...as if RJJ fighting Ruiz once, erased all of his handpicking and overpricing over the years.

The guy was right about RJJJ being a cherry picker.

The other thing...after I posted that vid, all the Roybots were saying see- 60-40...B-Hops fault.

Everytime B-Hop tried to respond to the 60-40, RJJ wouldn't let thim speak on it. When Bernard was finally going to get a word in, Jones throws down his headset and storms out of there.

...I believe Hopkins was going to agree to the 60-40 and specify a weight. Jones bailed before he would be made to look like he was bluffing for publicity.

Roy huggers don't want to see posts like this. Roy didn't even bother to try to negotiate with Hopkins. Roy huggers act like Roy was some type of big draw. No one was watching his fights. People were tired of him fighting mandos that they never heard of.

Whats to negotiate? 60-40 and I kick your ass! End of story..... Hopkins wasn't gonna agree to that, he knew he would get his ass kicked for a second time. Roy held all the cards, Hopkins had everything to gain and nothing to loose.

Byrd would not have been a harder fight. All of the things he is good at Jones is 3 levels above.

Hopkins was obviously trying to talk about the 60-40...but when Hops started moving forward in the negotiation, Roy bounced.

Bernard tried to say 60-40 about five times, Jones hearing it left. Jones did that interview for one reason, to make sure that fight doesn't happen...and to make it look like Hopkins fault.

Byrd was much better than Ruiz. Why did Roy not stay at Heavyweight and fight Byrd unify the IBF/WBA then either fight someone else at the time INSTEAD of dropping the belt (Vitali Klitschko was his mandatory at the time so I don't blame him Klitschko would have seriously hurt Roy) going back down to Light Heavyweight and having his Glass Jaw shattered twice? Why did Roy do this? I will answer. Because Roy knew he would would either get beat by Byrd or get his China Chin destroyed by another Heavyweight.

Jones handpicked Ruiz end of discussion all of the evidence points to this.

Who cares? I am talking about Byrd and Jones fighting at Heavyweight around 2003. Why did Jones handpick Ruiz and then disappear to only get KOed twice in brutal fashion?

What were the ratings for Roy fights around that time? What about his ppv numbers?

I don't know why any of the Roybots would disagree. It was a great achievement for Roy to step up and win the HW title...but he basically gave it back because he knew he couldn't be competitve, he just had Ruiz' number.

Roy kicked BHOPS ass with one hand, why in the world wouldnt he want to do it again in 2001?

Come on fellas! BHOP didnt deserve a 50/50 split and you know it. Roy was the bigger name and already owned a win over BHOP.

Jones was the draw then so he had the right for 60/40, but if Jones fought Tito at the time it would have been different

Roy wasn't even that much of a draw. He needed a big name or at least a credible threat to put up numbers. Hopkins represented that legitimate threat. Even with a 50/50 split, Roy stood to make more money for that fight than any other fight at the time. Of course, Roy fans don't want to hear this. They act like Roy is Oscar De La Hoya. He was not putting asses in the seats. Hell, even 55/45 would've been fair. However, Roy wouldn't budge off that 60/40 figure as he knew Hopkins wasn't going to go for that bull**** offer. Roy had no intentions of entering any real negotiations.
