Jones would've made a career high payday by accepting either 50% or 45%. So I don't want to hear about that. Again, someone tell me the numbers Jones was putting up at the time. What were his ppv numbers like?

So did you expect Jones to just bow down and accept that offer? Does Jones really need to money????

Jones has his own ego - there is no denying that, but in his mind, he still owned the win over the man and stil believes that counts for a bigger piece of the pie.

Thank you, plus hop has always been jelous of Jones. Also when the fight was signes two years ago, Jones said he offered Hop a deal 60 to the winner and 40 to the loser. If he is so confident of beating Jones he should have took that offer.

    Equal...

People forget that it was JUST the money they were arguing about (Hopkins still contends that Roy never FORMALLY offered him 60/40...only during the interview). Roy also refused to take a catchweight. At the time Hopkins was, and had been fighting at 160, while Roy was and had been fighting at 175....the fight was to be at 175 or nothing.

who knows, or better - who cares? Thats not relavant...

Bottom line......who was the was recognized best fighter PFP in the world at that time? Jones was the better fighter at the time (recognized by the experts) PLUS he owned a win over Hopkins. That is all that matters:deal

You think Roy would've taken that deal when he started talking that 60/40 I'll whoop your ass bull****? You think he would accept it if Hopkins said 60 to the winner and 40 to the loser? The answer is no.

Great point. A fighter's marketability has nothing to do with how much he gets paid.:nut I guess Floyd should've gottern 60% when he fought Hoya.

    :good

The "60/40 and I'll kick yo ass" offer was a fair deal. Roy was a bigger name than Hopkins at the time and already had the "W" over him.

I heard him say that once before too... If its true, that would have been amazingly stupid on BHOPs part for not taking it. OR he just didht think he could win.

Roy offered the deal not Hop, that seem like a perfect deal to me anyway.

No, back in 2002 when Roy said 60/40 I'll whoop your ass. Had B-Hop countered by saying he would agree to 60% to the winner and 40% to the loser, do you think Roy would've accepted the deal? There answer is no, he would not have in a million years. In a sport with sucj a subjective judging system, only a fool would agree to those terms.

HOP ONLY GOT GOOD NUMBERS WHEN HE FOUGHT A BIG NAME. Do you know the numbers he got against Joppy? I beleve Roys 175,000 was more then Hop fight against Joppy and that card was loaded

Yeah, I very much doubt that BHOP ever had better numbers than Jones but these are things about boxing that i dont follow.
