Yes, deadly finisher but maybe too patient at times. Canzoneri is another great mention. He fought like those guys you're surprised that didn't get knocked out but he knew what he was doing.
Canzoneri is the pocket roy jones with better skills, chin, and a bigger set of balls. He's one of my favorites
Oscar put on a lovely display in the first nine rounds of the Trinidad fight. From what little I've seen of Jersey Joe Walcott and Gene Tunney their footwork seemed very impressive for heavyweights. Ricky Hatton had very exciting footwork, maybe it was just his footspeed?
Against the right opponent, he was brilliant. He'd move fluidly, never expend extra energy and always seemed to get his feet in the right spot.
Joe Louis may not have had the most fancy footwork, but he was always in poistion and perfectly balanced to land those fight ending punches of his.
I'd actually rank him over Roy and I'm a Roy fan. TBF, Roy didn't have the opposition available that Canzoneri did(Ross, McLarnin, Ambers, Chocolate) but he did well to dominate and did dig deep giving top performances against Tarver in the first fight and against Toney. Canzoneri was better and greater, greate for the sport too.
Mayweather's. I'd love to be able to do the check hook on overly aggressive fighters. Also Ali's footwork itself isn't the most efficient, but he's so light on his feet that it amazes me
They do have comparisons but theres no question Canzoneri was greater. Roy couldn't carry his jockstrap.
