Calzaghe was easily more talented, but Ricky had a far more compelling career (in his choice of opposition). For this reason, Ricky will be always be remembered and respected more.
Super fair that Dunky, great post. Calzaghe was potentially probably the better fighter. But its hard to split them to be honest achievement wise. I'd just edge slightly towards Calzaghe due to his longevity but in reality a lot of it was smoke and mirrors. Potentially a great fighter, but not a great career.
How's Ricky's career compelling? It's only compelling in the same way Baldomir's is. Getting in the ring with Mayweather and Pac is to be respected but I don't see why it really adds something to Hatton's achievements when he wasn't competetive in either fight; he got hammered. That's nothing to shout about, probably 80 other people have done the same yet people bring that up time and time again like its impressive.
This. Although Hatton will possibly get more respect for taking on a better quality of opposition even though he lost to Floyd and Pac. He still fought two fighters at their peak who are considered elite fighters and were p4p number 1 at the time. JC's resume isn't great but it can be argued that his win over Hopkins (although controversial) is still better than any of Hatton's wins. JC for me.
Calzaghe was the superior boxer, but Hatton matches him in boxing record. Like TFFP I don't give Hatton bonus points for getting stopped by Mayweather and Pac.
