MAB was my favorite fighter when he was coming up. I loved the guy. He is a great fighter not good. I was sad as **** when he got KO'd by Jones. Morales is just special.

1. I do not regard Morales as the top fighter at 140 lbs.

2. Morales was all set to face Matthyse, the changes had nothing to do with him.

3. He proved he could compete in the class of a top 140 lb fighter when he fought brilliantly vs Maidana, he recieved his title shot based on that performance, why not ? it was an interim fight vs Maidana & in most peoples eyes Morales never lost that fight.

4. Morales was blatantly robbed in 08 vs Diaz in his quest to become Mexico`s first 4 weight champ so whichever way you choose to look at it, Morales IS Mexico`s first 4 weight champ.

You can`t have it both ways, if you go by the book then Morales is a 4 weight champ via beating Cano... if you go by your own logic then he is a 4 weight champ by beating Diaz... you don`t get to choose by the book when it suits, either way Morales is a 4 weight champion - fact !

You can say what you want about Hopkins, call him racist, a cheat **** even call him a coward if you want but to say he 'had it easy' as a fighter is down right ridiculous. Hopkins battled his way to the top and forced people to respect him in that sense he's cut from the same cloth as Marvin Hagler not a SRL or a Roy Jones.

Also keep this in mind, for much of his career Erik Morales had Top Rank one of the most prestigious boxing stables doing his promoting and setting up fights for him whilst Hopkins managed and promoted himself through out the early years of being a nobody.

A wonderful performance by Morales. The issue is not that he didn't deserve a shot at a world championship, the issue is that Cano didn't.
