Morales was a beast in one of the greatest featherweight eras. Hopkins dominated a shitty middleweight era.

It's going to be hard to get votes against Morales right now, no matter who you stack against him. If you asked the question with Ali or Sugar Ray Robinson, you would still have some people making an argument for Morales. (Plus a lot of people are pissed about Hopkins-Dawson).

If you asked a year ago, or ask again in 2-3 years, you'll probably find the results change dramatically.

Morales- trilogies with Barrera and Pac.
Hopkins- trilogy with Robert Allen and rematches with Antwun Echols, Jermaine Taylor, and Mercado.

Vanderpool, Haakar, Robert Allen, Carl Daniels, the ghosts of John David Jackson and Simon Brown, wow what a warrior. And waiting until Jones had lost 5 of 9 before finally rematching him, a full 7 years after everyone wanted to see it.

He had no intention of actually fighting Calzaghe and Dawson either. Morales even way past his best comes to fight, whether he wins (Cano) or loses (Maidana).

What good is a trilogy if you got KTFO twice? Morales got outboxed by Zahir Raheem for Christ sakes. His win over Pacquiao was clearly over a green and not yet polished Pacman.

Well if we're going to nitpick then let's go ahead and do it for both parties. Hopkins had no other trilogies during his middleweight era because he dominated absolutely everyone else he faced up until Taylor. Morales' legendary trilogies meanwhile left him with a 2-4, arguably 1-5 record. Likewise, if we're going to penalize Hopkins for not fighting Calzaghe out of his weightclass sooner, then let's also criticize Morales for not fighting Mayweather at 130 in 2001 (he had been at that very weight just a year earlier). Morales also currently has no intention of fighting Khan or Bradley, even though the former wants a unification bout at that weight and the latter is the rightful owner of his "record-setting" belt.
