Whos greater Julio Cesar Chavez or Roberto Duran?

H2H they're both probably two of the the best pressure fighters/infighers the world has ever seen, but Duran accomplished more.

 

No disrespect to your opinion dude..but Chavez ain't in my top ten... my top ten ATG's aint clear and dry quite yet.. but I'm pretty sure Chavez ain't making it.. and I've attempted to make one twice before

 

Chavez doesn't make my top 20, and neither does Pacquaio.

 

Chavez is top 50, Duran is top 10. I'll wait for Pacquiao to retire before placing him on my ******ed list.

In fact, I have to agree with this.. I'm really not sure if Pac ranks ahead of Hopkins... to true hardcore fans

 

Chavez is top 40, Pac's a little bit higher.

Duran is well above both, sitting inside the top 10.



This is the correct and only way to rank them.

 

I've been an avid boxing fan for just over 30 years and I dont think I'm qualified to properly rank Duran.
I missed his prime lightweight years.
Watched him perform from the first Leonard fight and after.

I've seen some Duran on video from his lightweight days, but its not the same, as if you did'nt live it, you cant really get an accurate gauge just how good his opposition was.

I'll go with what I saw, from 1980 on foward......and to me the best fighter of the two was JC Chavez.

In fact, in my 30 years as a fan, I have'nt seen a better and more complete fighter than JC Superstar!
Offensively aggressive.
Tremendous and underrated defense for as offensive as he was.
Precision accurate puncher.

Offense, defense, chin, stamina.......
He did it all and he made it look effortlessly.

If you've seen a good amount of footage of Duran at 135lbs, you're more than qualified to gauge how good he was at that weight.

Divac played his hand well. He thought if he discounted everything Duran did at 135lbs then it'd become perfectly acceptable for him to vote for JCC. He thought wrong.

 

If Salvador Sanchez had lived a full life and career, then JCC would not recive the same amount of adulation that he does today.
