Sorry to say, but you just cant quite grasp how good the era was unless you saw quite a bit of the fights from the respective fighters opposition as well.

The general forum can only speculate, but they're not as qualified to properly rank Duran or Chavez than someone who lived both era's.

I had a good guage of how good Duran was post 1980.
He was damn good. Even great in the first Leonard fight.
But if you rank Duran from just 1980 to present, he's not close to matching Chavez.

......but of course, Duran had a great lightweight career thats to be taken into account. His prime years of course.

I have no problem with any of the oldtimers rating Duran above Chavez. A John Garfield for instance.
......but not you Addie, you're not qualified to rank either era.

And what makes you think you need to have been born in the era to do this? Are historians unqualified to write a book on Andrew Jackson because they weren't on the battle field with him?

What's the difference between watching the fights on TV then and watching them on DVD/internet now?
