Whos greater Julio Cesar Chavez or Roberto Duran?

He rarely ever made LW to begin with.

You got that backwards JCC is way overrated and he still ain't close to Duran

 

He beat ONE (1) better fighter. Other than SRL Chavez's resume shits all over Duran's. I just wish to hell SRL would have fought smart, like he did in the two rematches where he completely outclassed and humiliated Duran (just like Benitez and Hearns) so we wouldn't have to hear all this **** all the time.

 

Duran got his ass whipped by DeJesus and his LW opposition is total **** compared to JCC's. He would be bobbing and weaving up in JCC's face and Julio would be breaking his ribs.

I like Juios resume better than I do Duran but I think Duran was more exciting. My choice for greater all around fighter would be Julio.

Both were great fighters, but I do think people fail to take into account that Chavez handled different styles better.
Chavez for instance was much better at cutting of the ring on runners. His destruction of such fighters like Hector Camacho and Lonnie Smith are testament to that.
I dont thing Duran would have quite dominated the version of Camacho that Chavez did.
Duran beats him of course, but I dont think he dominates him.
Chavez better at cutting of the ring for sure.

Agreed Manfred, Chavez was the more versatile fighter.

 

You can easily make a case for chavez as a top 10 fighter. If you give him the nod as the greatest mexican boxer ever then he has to be top 10. Now if you put sanchez, finito, olivares or somebody else as the top mexican fighter then you can keep him out.

Mexicans have gave us great boxers and are one of the top ten or higher boxing nations. You cant make a top ten list without having a mexican on it.

By the way i think duran was the greater fighter.
