Roy has arguably the best win (young Bernard Hopkins in 1993), although Floyd beats him in quantity and is undefeated. Jones declined at 33 years old, Floyd is 35 and going.

    Who's greater?

The Ruiz win is interesting as an argument for Jones.

I think it's close, but Mayweather edges it.

Also, Jones was ranked in the P4P rankings from 1993 until 2003.

    Mayweather since 1998 until today.

No doubt that Mayweather, Jones and Hopkins are the best fighters since Leonard and Duran.

All better than Whitaker, imo, who's resume falls a bit short.

They are some of the best . It's easy to say who were the best based on how they look / performed, but it's who you beat that matters. Beating down b level opponents / bums and looking good doing it doesn't say anything. (not saying that applies to those fighters, but just to illustrate the point)

I definitely don't think Mayweather and Hopkins are better then Whitaker, but Jones was certainly the most gifted and talented of all of them.

I would rate Floyd's resume above Jones, because he simply beat a better pool of fighters.

I think Roy's jump to Heavyweight is what sets them apart.

WTF has Roy been doing for the last few years apart from getting knocked out? This is not even close.

mayweather is greater but lets be fair to roy, he should have retired a long ****in time ago. Had he retired after winning that heavyweight title nobody would question him, I wouldn't even argue with someone who would put him in the top 10 atg. He ruined his career, his own fault why his rank as an ATG is further decreasing as he countinues to embarrassed himself

It's not about the last few years, it is about the man's prime, which was amazing. He could get knocked out 50 more times and it wouldn't take anything away from his prime. I voted Roy Jones, Jr., but it is a close one.

Roy had wins over a prime James Toney, a fight in which Roy was the underdog. He beat a not quite in his prime Bernard Hopkins, but still a great win. He beat all of the top light heavyweights in his reign, with the exception of Dariusz Michalczewski. He beat a top 5 heavyweight contender in John Ruiz, which is quite impressive, especially considering he started his career as at jr. middleweight. He had the most amazing set of God-given skills since the great Sugar Ray Robinson.

    Roy Jones Junior.

People bang on about Floyd Mayweather's 43-0, well Roy Jones technically went 49-0, and in that time he was pound for pound number 1 for a decade..? even though pound for pound rankings mean nothing. He captured the Middleweight Championship, was unified Light heavyweight champion, and World Heavyweight Champion.

And also has the record of the most belts, held at any one time in a division. I think he held 6-8 belts in the light heavyweight division.

As I said, it's very close.

Maybe Floyd will make the difference (up or down) in the years he has left in boxing.

If Floyd beats Canelo and/or Martinez, I think we've got a winner. If he stays undefeated until the end, I think we've got a winner.

Prime RJJ>Prime Floyd. And RJJ has a better resume as well. I don't hold losses that happen after a guy has left their prime against them (if Floyd were to end his career on a poor run, I wouldn't necessarily hold it against him when evaluating his career when he was in his prime.)

Floyd's best wins: Corrales, Mosley, DLH, Cotto, Castillo II, Gatti, Hernandez

Roy's best wins: Toney, Hopkins, Ruiz, Tarver, Reggie Johnson, Montell Griffin II, Virgil Hill

Floyd: Arguable GOAT @ 130, solid run at 135, poor opposition/holes above 135. Lots of fake retirements, time off, missed names, etc., and could have easily filled out his resume more had he not intentionally taken big chunks of time off.

Roy: GOAT @168, high ranking H2H @ 160 and 175, beltholder at HW. Missed out on Benn, Dariusz, Eubank, Collins, etc, but this is more on them than it is on Roy.

Basically, both guys have several divisional titles, impressive highlight reels, and wins over a slew of champions/HOF caliber guys. Floyd's best win is over Corrales, who was in his prime, looked great at the time, and had some success after Floyd. His second best win is a badly faded Oscar, his third best win is the Castillo rematch, and then he has a 39 year old Mosley and a shopworn Cotto. Roy, however, has a prime Toney and Hopkins on his resume, both of whom are Prime ATGs, something Floyd doesn't have on his resume, and he also has impressive wins over Hill, Tarver in the first fight, Ruiz, etc. Roy has a clearly better resume and was better on film in his prime.

A much more valid comparison would be Floyd and Calzaghe.
