I say RJJ... Roy got robbed of Olypmic Gold and in his prime was unbeatable. Leonard lost to Duran in his prime and didn't deserve the win against Hagler IMO. Both hurt their legacies by fighting too long.
Let's see SRL fought everyone moved up in weight and fought THE champion everytime instead of some trinket belt holder like Jones did. Jones carefully crafted his career moving up in weight and avoiding the best fighters to protect that Glass Jaw at each weight while collecting a bunch of vacant belts. No contest here SRL is 100 times greater than Jones ever dreamed of being. He made big fights happen. Jones didn't.
Jones was outright better at his best, has more resume depth, beat more champions (about 20) and much more longevity. Leonard has the greater individual wins but not by that much as Toney and Hopkins are nearly on par
ATG is leonard. mythycal match-up, mw and below Leonard. Above middle Jones. Jones was an ATG, he just never had the ATG match-ups that Leonard had.
he beat hearns when they were both undefeated on the ultimate stage, duran twice, once out of pure frustration, he gave hagler one of the toughest fights of his life and it could have gone either way, so there's really no controversy in that. it's tough to compare these fighters head to head because they were in completely different weight classes in their primes. in terms of resume leonard bests roy because of individual ring accomplishments against a greater number of greats, not to mention roy eats away at his legacy with every loss, especially by ko, he suffers against guys he would've trounced in the past.
SRL clearly has the greater resume, but I'm biased towards Jones because I think he was unbeatable in his prime.
I don't disagree with any of that mate. And nice to debate with somebody with a bit of class on here, that doesn't resort to name calling in every opinion they have.
