Where did i say he did?? And I've been here a few hours and been called tonnes of names (maybe not in this thread) and without any provocation
SRL because of competition. Both very physically gifted in their prime. Forget the recent KOs Roy suffered, in his prime Roy had a chin too. SRL was more technically sound than Roy.
you'll get used to it. people value the older fighters on this forum, and in general, so expect this sort of reaction when comparing an older great to a more recent one.
I think it's pretty emphatically Ray.I remember when Roy was touted as the best thing since Ray,but light heavy being his main weight there would never have been the same level of competition Ray had.Even if there was I doubt he could have matched Ray.Let's face it,very few ever will.
in terms of physical ability and athleticism and ability to dazzle the fans its close but Id have to say Leonard over all
I think they are about even. Jones did more but against weaker opposition. SRL is just a legend an **** nostalgia...
So here you are making the arguement that klitckos rate higher atg because its not their fault they dont have better quality opposition. I say that Jones cannot be given a discount for opposition because of the coincidence of the times he was born in. the fact is that Leonard beat more ATGs and lost to greater opponents as well. You could make the case that jones ducked a couple of fighters as well- but leonard was always fighting the best when he WAS the best! Leonard is one of the atg's! Prime jones is one of my favorite fighters to watch but his ATG rank either doubles or triples leonards...
