Yeah, im sure those people living in small villages with no electricity or very little food are more likely to turn into boxing champs.:nut

LMFAO......hmmmm NO....Economy in Puerto Rico? Puerto Rico's economy is ****, don't let the tourist attractions and the hotels in San Juan distort the reality of what Puerto Rico is. Go a little deeper and you'll see 80% of the island is a big ass GHETTO..gtfo of here with this Poor Mexican's not being able to fight in a decent gym ****, completely irrelevant. :patsch

Amen brother!!, i just hope freddy is just playing around with people who get involve in this nonsense because if he isn't i must have seriously overrated his opinions. I mean isn't it silly to compare how many champions Mexico and Puerto Rico have when it's obvious that Mexico has many more and is still behind in world title fights?? to me this thread just doesnt make sense...

The U.S does not and never financed amatuer boxing in PR. That's why PR represent themselves in the Olympics. Those Olympians chosen to fight, must raise money on their own...no help from anyone, just family and friends. Also, your ignorance and/or lack of knowledge on PR's finances are way off...not even close. Most poor countries set money aside and they help their Olympians because they represent the best their country have to offer...Puerto Rico doesn't have that option...they are a common wealth of the U.S...and the U.S choose not to finance them that way unless they represent the U.S instead of PR...and most choose not to.

Not irrevelant at all. Kids who survive in big economical crissis have no resource for education and even less to devote time to sport. They have to work to survive. In PR in general, this is not the case. They have more opportunity for education and sport.

PR probably beats everyone but USVI on percentage. The only other places that small with several champs are Wales (3 MM people with 8 champs), Guyana (750k people with 5 champs) and the Virgin Islands (100k people with 3 champs).

And Kid Chocolate was Cuban, what's your point?

Not to flame (I have no dog in this fight), but if you were to rank the top 10 latino fighters of all time, probably half of them are Mexican and none of them are Puerto Rican (maybe Benitez sneaks into the back end, but that's about it).

Still impressive what PR has done with so few people, comparatively.

I agree. As a white man anyways I think Latin fighters do us all proud.

The rivalry is only for fun. Anyone who takes it beyond that is just stupid. Like people who brawl at football games. Grow up already.
