Interesting question. I think I go with Mayweather. Neither man has a stellar resume, but Floyd has slight edges in ability (IMO) and longevity.

Anyone who chose Floyd, explain to me how Mayweather, the cowardly woman beater who has only been pro since 1996 compares to this:

    Career: 1973 - 2002, nearly 30 years compared to Floyd's 14!

    Wins over:

    Earnie Shavers
    Ken Norton
    Muhammad Ali
    Trevor Berbick
    Leon Spinks
    Gerry Cooney
    Randall Cobb
    Tim Witherspoon
    Marvis Frazier
    Ray Mercer

    ...and Butterbean!

    Had the balls to fight:
Mike Tyson (prime Mike Tyson, not old ass broke down Tyson)
    Michael Spinks
    Evander Holyfield
    Brian Nielsen
    Oliver McCall

Historically i think Larry is better. Holmes has a good case for a top 5 all time spot in his division.

Larry Holmes of course.... who the f@ck is Mayweather jr. ? He avoided the top 147 pounder fighter likes Margarito, Clottey, Cotto.... And he waited for Mosley to become a senior citizen before he fought him.

Could Floyd not potentially challenge for a top 5 place at super-featherweight? I don't know too much about the division but the Floyd who shattered Diego Corrales looked pretty much unstoppable at that weight. I do realise Heavyweight has much more depth however so I guess saying Larry Holmes is more historically significant is a solid position.

    Holmes by far

    Holmes fought in 4 decades

and beat plenty of hall of famers

he also cleaned out an entire era of challengers

Mayweahter is good but he didnt beat everybody like Holmes did

****in' Floyd nuthuggers are dying to stroke Floyd's shaft and swallow the gravy....Holmes by a long shot. Twenty consecutive HW title defenses, which is second to Joe Louis. Holmes actually fought people.
