Firstly, why are the BBC passing this off as a genuine world title and why is Todd acting as if this is a proper title. "..only the second world champion from Swansea..." :nut
I read this on the BBC website earlier. Would be funny if he won the 'world title' then had a non-title six rounder against some journeyman!
I believe this is the guy seen in the Calzaghe Clan show, episode 2. He seems a bit of a bell end. He's only had 4 fights and lost one of them.
For a bit of insight into James Todd watch this: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00n9lc5/Calzaghe_Clan_Episode_2/
He's fighting in America isn't he, his last fight was reported in BN last week. He lost to a debutant - which is probably the 2nd best rating at a title shot after the dead guy got moved up the ratings a few years back. His brother Chris plays Centre Back for Torquay (well he would if he wasn't warming the bench at the moment) and got diagnosed with leukemia last year but is now in remission I believe.
Yeah, can't see him going very far with a bad attitude like that. If I'm not mistaken, he's gone out to America after leaving Enzo's gym - maybe that'll be the making of him and make him buck up his ideas. Certaintly did himself no favours with how he came across on the programme though
http://www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=481519&cat=boxer :nut Analysing his career thus far..... Debuted against Adam Cummings, with a four round draw. Cummings has gone 3-0-1 in his proceeding bouts, drawing with and beating Karl Taylor (wow, these days ), and was taken the distance by very average journeymen Matt Seawright and Johnny Greaves. In his next bout, he faced Jason Nesbitt, who has faced a few decent names in his time, but had won only two of his previous forty four bouts streching back several years. Nesbitt has since lost eleven of twelve, the other being a no contest. Following a shutout of that particular ATG, it was a slight step down in class to take on Adam Farrell, who was 0-1 at the time, his only defeat coming by stoppage. The referee awarded him a commanding 60-55 victory. Farrell is currently taking time out to consider his future career, I'd guess. Next up, it was time to showcase Todd in front of the adoring American public. He was matched against debutant, Dean Peters jr. In what appeared to be a fairly close fight, the Welshman was outpointed on all three cards in Wisconsin. ------------------------------------ If Todd takes this great opportunity, there will no doubt be some huge opportunities coming his way in America. Perhaps unification fights with the Berto/Mosley or Pacquiao/Cotto winners, perhaps? :rofl
Hatton should sign this kid and main event him on his Sky shows. They only seem to want the huge world title fights these days. The BBC are wankers.
I dont begrude Todd or anyone else trying to get their name in the spotlight. At the end of the day they go in the ring to get paid and if they can bleat about it somewhere and sell more tickets then fair play to them. What I do begrudge is the BBC even giving this credence when there are genuine domestic title bout (even world title fights!!) which they dont even cover.
