ODLH. The list of guys who he fought is the best in a long time.

He was old as **** when Pac fought him too. I don't give Pac much credit for that win either. I never understood why Oscar was fighting him execpt his incredible stuborness about people calling him out. It's like he has a "chicken syndrom" if someone calls him out he HAS to fight them.

It's quite admirable, but it also gets him in some bad fights.

What??? His wins by far outweigh his close (and/or excusable) losses.

Here are his losses (in my book):

Hopkins at MW after fighting on even terms for 8 rounds.

Sturm at MW, by maybe one or 2 points.

Pacquiao at WW when he was weight-drained.

Floyd at SWW, but only by 1 or 2 points.

Whitaker by 1 point, but could easily be scored a draw.

Quartey by 1 or 2 points.

In my book, Oscar beat Mosley twice, plus Trinidad, Mayorga, Vargas, Castillejo (the only guy who beat Sturm), Chavez (34 years old).

Fighting close fights with men like Hopkins and Whitaker proves that Oscar is an elite champion-level fighter. Floyd ducked too many men in his weight class to compare favorably to Oscar. Look at Floyd's resume and his weight: where are Margarito, Cotto, Paul Williams, Pacquiao? These are men he ducked. Now he will probably fight Pacman because he sees that Pac is 32 and beginning to get slower. Floyd will win, but that will not put him higher than Oscar on any sane person's p4p lists.

    That's a laughable stretch!

Forrest was nobody until he beat shane, he then became a nobody again right afterwards by losing to Mayorga.

De la Hoya...Don't even think this is close, actually. Like Louis, Ali, Leonard, Tyson, ODH is a transcendent figure in the history of boxing. Pacquiao is MUCH closer than Mayweather in this regard. I suppose the thread is referring to ODH/Mayweather's BOXING-ABILITY legacy, that is, in a strictly skills sense. I take the view that the superiority of one's record and skills is DIRECTLY measured by whom the opponents are and who the fighter measured DIDN't fight. With that said, and mindful of Mayweather's victory over a clearly over-the-hill DLH and without a lengthy recitation of their respective opponents, I am quite confident that Mayweather's BOXING-ABILITY legacy still doesn't quite measure up to Oscar's.

They should let Floyd do it, because after, they'll deny he hit them. :D
