Who's more famous , GSP or Gretzky ?

I don't even care if these people are more popular than Wayne Gretzky or not, the point is you came up with 12 sports figures who may be more popular than Gretzky, (two of whom I've never heard of) so this is rrather a compelling argument that Gretzky is hear the top of the heap..I'd probably throw in Raphael Nadel, and Roger Federer into that list, but I noticed there weren't any MMA fighters and it's hard excluding North American sports figures, both of which pretty much prove my point.

 

I'm well aware of the difference in coverage between the summer and the winter Olympic games, and there was 82 countries who participated in the winter olympics including Mexico, among others, Here's a partial list. They include Australia, Pakastan, Morocco, Ghana, Germany, USA, Albania, Nepal, Argentina, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, Norway and on and on it goes.

 

lol at GSP being anywhere near as popular as the names mentioned above.

Look I gradulated university in 1990, I can comprehend things pretty well. Your point was that outside of North America and Northern Europe that MMA is more popular than the NHL and therefore by default GSP is more popular than Gretzky. This is why I asked you to name famous athletes outside of north america so that this argument could be put into context.

You then gave me a list of 13 athletes you believed to be more popular than him, 9 of which were outside of north america. So if a total of 9 athletes outside of north america are more popular than Gretzky and you're claiming GSP is also more popular than Gretzky than GSP must be up there, or just below, the likes of Renaldo, Pele, Beckham, etc.. which to me is nonesense.

Did that capture your position?

 

And if GSP were in those olympics and carrying a flag for Canada or something along those lines, you'd have an argument, but since he isn't and this discussion is between who's more popular between Gretzky and GSP, it's irrelevant to the discussion. IS THIS TOO COMPLICTED FOR YOU.

 

Nop, or should I say not completly. I am not even trying to make a case for MMA being more popular NHL outside north america. The only thing I am saying is that MMA can reach place NHL CAN'T.

There is no way in hell there could be any following of the NHL on the southern emisphere of the globe(except for people coming from the northern emisphere), therefore even if we know(for a fact, it's not even debate) that Gretzky is more popular here, there are far more chance of GSP being knowned elsewhere in the world(AKA asia) where there is no way Greztky can be knowned there.

That is the only thing I am saying.

And you then ask me to name 50 athlete, of wich 25 of them arn't coming from north america and I replied that I don't know **** about sport, I don't watch any of them I just honetly think it's completly stupid to watch people getting paid million of dollar to kick or throw something in a net.

I've done my best and from memory I named approx 13(wich isn't bad for someone like me, meaning absolutly no knowledge whatosever about sport) 9 of them from oustide north america. and for the seventh time, GSP is NOT more POPULAR then WAYNE GRETZKY you are ****in puttting WORD into my MOUTH.

 

No it woudn't because even though it is a great honor for a Canadian to carry the flag or lit te torh, the guy in Sweden, Finland, France or Russia won't know who the **** is Wayne Gretzky, therefore your argument is irrelevant to this discussion.
