I'm more intimidated of what I don't know somebody can do to me than what I know somebody can do to me. It's all personal preference.
Sonny Liston said the only time he was intimidated was when he went on a "ride" with the Kray Twins in England once. "One of the Kray's criminal archrivals wouldn't talk, so they nailed his head to the floor." It is in the Liston book, or maybe a book about the Krays (can't remember) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kray_twins
To clarify, Liston was not involved in nailing anyone's head to the floor, he was just quoting what he knew the Krays could do.
don't insult duran by comparing him to charles manson. charles manson was a wimp. not trying to be an internet tough guy - but i myself would beat the hell out of manson (nevermind manson is 70 something - even prime manson was a midget who manipulated disturbed women to do his dirty work. he is a loser who should be ignored but the stupid media has glorified him). nevermind what joe frazier or duran would do to him.
btw to answer the thread - monzon. even if it is unfair - the image of duran getting brutally knocked out by hearns sort of takes away from his aura. that would have NEVER happened to monzon.
Monzon was actually, as it panned out, a real killer, and Duran never was, and is today a big overstuffed pussycat. NOT, A "*****", but a pusstcat. I want to make that clear.
They say at his best Manson had a fast snapping jab and a sneaky straight right hand right down the pipe. The Eder Jofre of the underground cult organisation.
I'd say it like this, what are you most afraid of: A.) Being trapped in a burning house, where you don't know if are going to be killed by falling debris, the blazing inferno, or the suffocating smoke. B.) Being trapped at the end of a long corridor with no windows or doors, starring at a death machine slowly marching towards you.
I read about that too. http://www.crimelibrary.com/gangsters_outlaws/mob_bosses/kray/gangsters_8.html After a raucous evening of partying, Ronnie, very drunk, insisted on driving Liston home to his room at The Dorchester Hotel in west London. Liston said afterwards, that the thirty minutes he spent in that car were the scariest moments of his life, bar none.
