Damn. Shakur is at least a 3-weight champ and a decorated amateur but should have never been anywhere near the big P4P lists and his level of ability is exaggerated through the roof. He is boring though (when he’s fighting guys who try to win) and loads of his fights have looked pretty fake. Benavidez is at least more fun to watch but less accomplished with a horrible resume yet most don’t seem to be under aspersions that he’s some elite skilled type of guy. I’d say Shakur overall since he’s got more fans and even the guys who don’t like him seem to acknowledge that he is an elite talent for some reason.

Benavidez won his first "world title" in 2017. In 7 years at "world level" at 168 his best win is Caleb Plant.

    Stevenson has numerous better wins.

    • Both have been weight bullies.
    • Benavidez is too big for 168, and was less dominant when he fought someone closer to his own size in Gvozdyk.
    • Stevenson has not been impressive against men closer to his own size at 135, he was fighting smaller men at 130 and 126, some he fought at 130 were coming up from 126.
    • Benavidez is obviously better to watch than Stevenson, whose negative style is very boring. Stevenson's cautious approach may be because he doesn't have a good chin.
    • Stevenson was ranked in the top ten P4P by some, while beating smaller guys at 130, Benavidez was not.

Benavidez is excused for being entertaining to watch.

CBS had Shakur ranked above Usyk P4P after the first Usyk vs AJ fight

Shakur was a two weight champion at the time, was fighting at home and had beaten 2 world champions

He didn't even make one defence of his world title at 126

Usyk had beaten 6 world champs and was the undisputed CW champion and three-belt unified HW champion, winning and unifying all his belts in his opponent's backyards

Unfortunately, and rather fortunately for Usyk he reigns over one of the weakest Divisions in boxing, and one of the weakest HW divisions in history.

So I understand why some people would not rank him as high.

Neither are overhyped, if anything they get hate from the usual suspects.

The hype behind Benavidez moving up to 175 seems a bit inflated but compared to Shakur at
least Benavidez delivers on the entertainment value. Shakur is boring in the worst way.

Do you really think that? Im not even joking i think if Stevenson was to fight Abdullah Mason next he would he get knocked out. There is absolutely nothing special about either of them.

Surely it's a joke. Abdullah Mason would get his face boxed off. Although I can see why people perfer him

Nah, that's just pure and inexcusable bias from them. If Usyk was American they would've ranked him #1

Shakur, who FTR I do consider one of the most skilled fighters in the sport, had beaten a past prime Herring who was C level even in his prime and Valdez who looked a lot smaller and been involved in half a dozen life of death wars. Usyk unified a very strong CW division in his opponent's backyards and then whooped the way bigger murderous punching AJ in his backyard in front of 65,000 AJ fans. There's no comparison. They had Spence and Shakur ranked above him which is insane.
