Honestly yeah it is absurd, Frazier would not be champion if he had a run like a modern HW it’s not a single off bout regularly he’d be physically outgunned multiple times over every fight with literally zero advantages he might have stamina but that’s been debunked before… Ali would suffer hugely because he lacked his usual advantages in size, speed, reach he fought like a big guy - Foreman would be “orbited” as @Seamus likes to say, it’s a hard pill to swallow but seriously the top contenders of the 70s Norton, Quarry, Shavers, Lyle and Spinks? Those guys all get rolled by the vast, vast majority of good contenders today AJ would walk through that lot and we’d call him a cherry picker now.

The 30s era would box the ears off of this era. My god if you let Lee Murray loose in this era he'd wreck shop.

Tommy Farr would decimate Tyson Fury.

Joe Gans would decimate Fury, it wouldn’t be competitive

Why does Fury wear his trunks so high?

If they're rolling through the 70s they're rolling through every era before then including little 205 pound Joe Louis who was as stiff an an ironing board, had no lateral movement and knocked down 10 times against other low grade stiffs

Here is something to picture for you all… Quarry was 6ft flat and about a not very lean 197lbs… Ali loomed over him, he doesn’t look like he should be in the same weight class - take that “leading contender” and put him with someone 3 inches taller yet again and another 30-40lbs heavier then Ali… that’s crazy… that can be arranged pretty easy today. Ali would give 3-5inches of height and 30-50lbs of weight he would be in the Ellis, Quarry and Patterson bracket today.

The top contenders of the 60’s and 70’s like Williams, Shavers, Young, Folley, Machen would clean up today’s era.

Yes Ali was a bum with no modicum of skill whatsoever. He’s not fit to carry the great Joshua’s fascia cups.

Louis would have issues today, he wouldn’t dominate but he’d be able to beat everybody… Louis is the best pure boxer at heavyweight period he didn’t rely on being bigger / longer, his skills would allow him to punch above his weight like Tyson, Holyfield and Usyk… Louis had a few flash KD’s but mostly dominated a decade against some skilled guys, Usyk suffered his hardest fight against a smaller guy because they’re within that bracket, Louis had more issues with Conn then Buddy Baer that’s boxing.

That’s the issue with old heads like you, you’ll see a critique of Ali and immediately jump to snark and acting like I’m saying Joshua is some great… Ali would beat Joshua, Shavers creamed Norton Ali didn’t, it’s a styles thing and size matters but that can be MORE or LESS depending how you fight, it matters a lot for Ali because he fought like a big guy.

Ali beat quite a lot of better fighters than Louis did.

Why exactly? Louis can fight small, Louis knew a lot more about boxing, could fight inside and didn’t rely on his length / pulling back… watch the Norton fights as a refresher on Ali’s “skills” when a decent fighter matched his attributes with some basic boxing.

Ali had the best resume of all time at heavyweight, Ali fought like a big guy because he was a big guy, he wasn’t small by any means, but in his prime he was big and lightning fast.
