It depends on how you define more skilled. Lomachenko makes you go wow more when you watch him and being smaller showcases his skills better But in terms of ring IQ, chin, stamina, durability, and overall effectiveness it has to be Usyk. The funny thing is that Lomachenko was considered the better boxer for most of their careers.
I never disputed he lost to Teofimo, a loss which most scored 7-5 despite Loma giving away most of the rounds in the first half of the fight. And Loma was injured, hadn't fought in 14 months, and Teofimo is much naturally bigger than him, at least two divisions bigger, and he looked like a corpse on crack at the weigh in And he's super athletic, explosive, fast, and very skilled and the version that fought at 135 was the hardest puncher in the division with vicious one punch KO power in either hand. The size disparity between Usyk and Belly might be much greater (albeit obviously when you're a blown up 126 pounder giving away 10-15lbs is different than a CW/HW giving away that much to a bigger HW). I can't stand Teofimo but I've always said he's super talented since the first time I saw him fight and his power and blazing speed was more a threat to Loma than Belly's was to Usyk because 135 Teofimo could spark fighters his own size out cold with a single shot in the blink of an eye with either hand and Loma had to be extremely wary of that at all times. Look what Teo did to giant fellow 135 pounder Commey who came in three weight classes heavier than Loma at 154 and is very durable and had never been stopped This content is protected Then look what his power did to massive 160lbs 140 pounder Josh Taylor. It put Taylor who is also very durable into his shell quite early into the fight
I am referring specifically to skill, Brother Olu. I never said Loma was better overall albeit he has been extremely unlucky. I wouldn't dispute that Usyk has had the better pro career just like I wouldn't dispute that Loma had a better amateur career than Usyk and indeed everyone else. Yes I did know that Did you also know that Jake ''Money'' Paul also shares their birthday? No doubt Teofimo is very gifted physically, but Fury has much better fundamentals and ring IQ. Lopez isn't fundamentally sound and that was the prime reason why I was expecting Loma to beat him easily despite the difference in size and power. Loma, however, lost that fight. Unlike Loma against Lopez, Usyk successfully overcome power disparity not once but 3 times (!!!) against murderous punching big heavyweights Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois. I think Usyk is much tougher, mentally stronger than Loma and has significantly higher IQ (he makes in-fight adjustments much quicker and far more successfully than Loma does). I think he is clearly more effective and all-around better fighter of the two
Despite the huge size disparity, the chances of Loma getting flattened by Teo were actually much higher than they were of Usyk being so by Belly and I'm not one of those who think Belly can't punch. He can when he wants to and obviously power id magnified when you're opponent is much bigger than you. Teofimo is super fast, explosive, and his power was deadly at 135 and Loma is a natural 126. That being said, I firmly believe he would've beaten Teo in a rematch FTR, I'd take the 22 y/o old version of Loma over the 32 y/o one every day. Loma has overcome a power disparity many times too. He's fought a lot of punchers, and ones who were much bigger than him, like 15lbs bigger with much longer reaches both of which are a lot for a leprechaun to contend with As said, I don't dispute that Usyk is the better pro but there is context which needs to be factored in too. Usyk has an iron chin but Loma does have a serious beard himself and he's very physically strong for his size, two aspects of his which are very underappreciated. He's plenty tough and strong
Loma is maybe the most skilled man to lace up a pair of gloves but Usyk is the better fighter and tactician and in general has more dawg in him.
Did not know that Jake “Money” Paul had the same birthday as Ali and Usyk. However I cannot think of Jake as a GOAT other than in the YouTube world but he still has to fight KSI.
