Interesting theory Dan, what makes you believe this?

I've actually written three detailed posts about how I see this fight going but to sum it up briefly. Joe wasted enough punches against Kessler who basically stood in front of him so it stands to reason he will waste even more against a defensive master like Hopkins.

If he tries to match Joe blow for blow he wont last 6 rounds let alone 9. We all know he's not going to attempt that though.

It probably seemed that way due to the level of opposition. Calzaghe doesn't have one punch KO power at the highest level.

Size wise there comparable, Hopkins is obviously the bigger puncher, and probably the slightly stronger man in the ring. I wouldnt be surprised to see Calzaghe go down in this fight, he throws very wide punches that should be pretty easy for Hopkins to counter, especially if Joe's off balance while throwing, something I was surprised that Kessler couldnt take advantage of at times during there fight.

Calzaghe used to have very good power. Not one punch power, but power nonetheless. He didn't knock out 20 of his first 21 guys because they were bums, it still takes some effort to achieve

Sadly I don't think he'll be knocking out anybody else before he hangs up the gloves unbeaten

    Edit: Except maybe Pavlik

Hops is a natural light heavy.

His punching technique is better than Zags'

I think Hopkins is probably comfortable at 175 at his age. I could see him getting down to 168 at a push, but his punch output would be even worse

640 punches is not a bad output.;)

Calzaghe is no better, "If you aint fouling your not trying hard enough to win", thats what my old boxing coach used to tell me.

I model myself on Joe, infact people say I'm an orthodox Joe Calzaghe, and I almost knocked my mates head off in the gym the other day

    Good slaps I tell ya
