I'm only a little super feather

I'm not ready to get in with a bigger, world class operator like Veit yet :-(

    Maybe when I fill out

Well let me know when u do. Tocker Pudwill is in desperate need of a WBO title shot. Not sure why, I've heard they give them away these days.

    You are very cynical Daniel

MasterCalzaghe's propaganda campaign has yet to bear fruit :-(

Oh come on, he is nothing like as intelligent or good looking

We are leagues apart. Much like Joe and Hopkins in that respect

Well both of you are articulate I'll give you that. You both make good adversaries when it comes to written sparring. I wouldn't know what either of you look like although I strongly suspect you both style yourselves on your hero.

Joe & Bernard are not leagues apart are they? Thats where you & MasterCalzaghe (your alias/other self) differ. You make outlandish claims whereas he refrains.

It's an honour to be compared with Joe aesthetically

I must say that if I was gay, I would probably see something in Joe

To be fair MasterCalzaghe has made some impressive claims. When he's on top Wumming form he's a sight to behold

I wasn't comparing you. For all I know you could be a fat bloke in a Wales t-shirt.

Yup Joe certainly does have that matinee idol thing down to a tee. Lets hope Hopkins doesnt damage that. It's not as if he's worried about entering any beauty pageants & the way Joe goes through birds he's going to need to maintain his flawless profile.

Yup it's a shame MasterCalzaghe's not around. You sure they didn't just up your medication today?

    dan-b - No I'm not joking.

Hopkins first ever fight was at 175. His body would naturally and comfortably suit a 175 lbs frame.

Hopkins has said he could have been a light heavy for many years but his discipline and will made him want to make history at 160 first.

Calzaghe has the edge in punch output, but I would say that Hopkins has the more solid punch technique and his skills overall are of a higher standard.

What gives Calzaghe the edge is his footwork and frenetic pace - Hopkins has a way of nullifying those tactics and his record against southpaws is something like 9-0 - Whilst I lean toward Calzazghe's high output style at this stage - Hopkins is someone you neve want to bet against.

He's just so crafty. He's our generations Archie Moore with less dynamite in his fists, but all the skill.

Good post. You do realise I'm picking Bernard either way though right?;)

Hopkins has the better punch - he koed DeLaHoya and Trinidad.

I don't think Calzaghe can KO Hopkins. But, Calzaghe has a
freaky style - speed, movement, slipping, etc. , so even though
I'm a Hopkins fan, I think that Calzaghe takes this one.

Calzaghe has that unorthodox difficult-to-fight style.

i think hopkins started out as a SMW and dropped down to MW. so, both of them are natural SMWs. hopkins has the advantage of having already fought as a LHW however.

as for punching power, at this point in their careers, i would say both are roughly equal. but hops does have better one punch power but calzaghe will offset this with volume/activity.

Funny that JC is turning 36 and it will be his first fight with someone with a legendary status (43 and one of the top P4P), now I admire JC for defending his title all those years, he's a great boxer with good speed and all, but I don't consider him still a top P4P fighter. On his last 3 fights he fought one with Kessler (nice) but the other 2 were against Contender guys. That's why I think that he needs the Hopkins fight (who has fought against Trinidad, Oscar De la Hoya, Jermain Taylor, Roy Jones Jr, Winky Wright). If you compare JC (who has fought Kessler, Manfredo, Bika, Lacy, Mario Veit, who else?). I'm just saying that he needs to fight Hopkins and I do give him credit for defending his title in so many years, one of the few who had done that. I know I'll be hated for this, sorry.
