Have him fight Zaveck for the IBF welterweight title. He would actually have a decent shot.

Just because he has victories over Gatti and Castillo, two fighters that were WAY past their prime, doesn't mean he should be fighting for a title. Personally, I have been dying for Gomez to fight Antwone "The Truth" Smith.

Gomez is a decent fringe contender. Soto-Karass is a good win. So is the fact he has W's over Brinkley and Manfredo.

He'll never break through to the top, but he'll round out the bottom of the top 20 for a few more years and is more than capable of giving a few decent guys a schooling.

 

I heard some rumors about Julio Cesar Chavez.

Since Gomez like to fight shot fighters, it'll work out perfectly.

 

He fights Gatti and Castillo and all of a sudden he just chases JUST old shot to **** fighters. Gatti chose Gomez in an attempt to sign off his career and Gomez is hardly going to turn down Castillo on a Pac undercard.

I have been pulling for Gomez/Basilio for the longest time now.
