True, Kessler should target Bute while he is still green, preferably right after he picks up the IBF trinket. :good Bute meanwhile should stay away for another year or so. After watching the Bika fight, it's obvious he still has his limitations (some of which he can improve upon). Whether he will ever be able to beat Kessler is anyone's guess. I think Chad Dawson 7 lbs north of Kessler would be a good matchup if MK would beat Calzaghe. there would be nothing left at 168. Let's not forget Dawson was at 160 lbs just 3 years ago. They would be similar in size, and imo Kessler would be up against a tall guy who is more skilled than him for the first time in his life; I would pick Chad Dawson to win a wide decision.
:thumbsup If Bute gets called out and he ducks Kessler...he will lose fans. I agree with you that Bute could do better against Kessler further down the line. Still, if Kessler looks like never coming down to 168 again after Joe, Bute should take it and not miss out on this opportunity, even if it means that his chances of a win are quite low. Better to lose fighting well against the best than to duck a great Champ (undiputed) who is calling you out and have that haunting your career for the rest of your life!:good
For people to even suggest that Calzaghe is gonna beat Kessler in the same manner that he did Lacy is utterly ridiculous.
He can't win that unless he wants to give all his titles away and take a step back. The regular WBA belt can't be unified and is lower ranked than the WBA Super champ belt which Kessler already has.
This is a pointless discussion. Why would Calzaghe fight Mundine even if he lost to Kessler?:? As to Kessler...if he lost to Calzaghe and wanted another go at SMW, he would go for Bute. He has already beaten Mundine. He would only take on Mundine again AFTER taking on Bute.
