    When Thaxton was European champ?

Let's be honest, Thaxton is so damn limited it hurts. A paper champ extraordinate who will damned lucky if he makes it past his first mandatory defence - and this is taking into account how poor the division is. I do love how we overestimate people we like here. It's so very amusing...

I agree, Thaxton is vastly overrated, got his block knocked off when he faced Romanov.

He may not have been Euro champ at the time, but he still would have been Khan's most credible opponent so far. Big reward, little risk, it seems, but still he said "no".
As for overestimating fighters, let's not forget, it's Amir Khan we're talking about here. He is just about the most overrated, over hyped boxer we've seen for many years. Even more than Enzo Macc.

Okay, this is coming out of nowhere but... what about Canadian Benoit Gaudet? Former Olympian. He has a 19-1 record and no punching power to speak of. Khan could defend his Commonwealth title against him. Gaudet is rated by most sanctioning bodies.

Sounds like the kind of opponent Warren will be looking for.

Khan? Overrated and overhyped?! Hell yeah!

But still sooooo much better than Thaxton.

Most likely a Mexican who was recently laid off from his road-sweeping job due to ill health and all around poor performance.

I think Khan's next opponent should be Prescott. If he has learned from his stint in America with Freddie Roach he could shut all the haters up in one fail swoop by beating Prescott. It would be a massive confidence booster as well.

    Thaxton's mandatory is Romanov........

To be fair, the guy might pull out and try to get a world title shot - leaving Jono to make a defence against somebody else.

FW has a big deal with Sky Box Office, can't take another loss at the moment, i guess he'll face lesser competition till the money-hype machine is fully rolling again.

I rate Katsidis highly. I think he would have beat Casamayor if he had been just a little bit more defence minded and his last fight against Juan Diaz was very close.

I think he's way out of Khan's league.

His last fight with Diaz wasnt close, disgraceful judging imo, Diaz pretty much destroyed him. Oh and i think he should Rematch Willie Limond :smoke

Good thinking. I was thinking of Willy Blain as an opponent for Khan.

How about Manny Pac? It's been established that Amir can take his power, so with his handspeed, I can't see how the lad can lose.
