How about a catch weight fight with Diaconu?? Sick fight in Romania or Canada. Bute should win that one and look good.

Diaconu might not be able to make 170 Bute will not go to 175 ...and they are very good friends... sometimes they where caring each other belts at weight-in & ring entrance.

Oh well...... Maybe fight Cloud then go back to 175??? There really isnt much out there for him esp at 168. I dont think Hopkins can get down to 168 and I doubt Dawson can. 170-172 ctch weight fights would be his best bet for big fights. Pavlik moving up? Pascal if he beats Dawson which is a big if would be huge in Canada and even if he loses it would be a good fight.

Too bad the Stieglitz fight won't happen. Maybe he could bring Anthony Mundine back up to supermiddle. That'd be a good fight. I heard Khoren Ghevor is struggling with 160. Maybe they could make a deal.

Also, according to this article, Diaconu had surgery and won't be able to resume training until september.

A lot depends on how firm his July 25 date and the Romania location are. I think a Hopkins fight could happen but not by July and not in Romania. Unfortunately, with the Super Six and Pavlik losing, Bute doesn't have a lot of options. If the Bika-Brinkley winner gets through that fight without injuries than I can see that as a Bute fight, even with the short time between fights. If not maybe a middleweight. Whats Manfredo up to?

Mundine would be a good one if only to see how good Bute does against a slick mover.

Bute is a hot fighter right now but he's being overshadowed by the Showtime tourney, he clearly needs to shine under the lights of HBO boxing against a name fighter, a bigger name than Andrade, Miranda and Stieglitz... And there's nobody in the 168 pound division available with these requirements. Bute is gonna go for Hopkins at 170 or 175 and that will be a non title fight. I really feel everybody got it wrong concerning the Hopkins-Jones II affair - it was a dreadful fight and Hopkins can not make PPV numbers alone - so he needs Bute as much and I believe Bute may beat him with his activity and skills but it may well be another big upset if people are counting Hopkins off AGAIN.

Calzaghe was off his prime, Pavlik is not slick, Jones is very old. Bute represents a different challenge for Hopkins. It would not be easy but I think Bute would win.
