He has to think before fighting in July in Romania. It's too early to fight his mandatory (Bika and Brinkley will fight at the end of May to get the mandatory spot), so that would be 2 average fights in a row. He could fight in Romania in August (and be part of the Pascal-Dawson HBO show) against his mandatory and then fight Bernard Hopkins in November or something like that.
I don't think any papers are signed. There was some info about HBO asking to present the winner of Bika-Brinkley in August (in Romania). I guess it all has to be confirmed.
The idea of Bute fighting his mandatory in Romania, in August, on the same card as Pascal-Dawson (on tape delay) seems the best idea so far. That way he could : 1- Still fight in Romania like he wants. 2- Get the fight on HBO which is good for him and HBO since that would make a very good card. 3- Deal with his mandatory fight right away, rather than being stuck with it later when better options present themselves. 4- By having them on the same card, get fans interested in the idea of possibly matching the winners against each other maybe later in the year, while keeping in consideration, the Hopkins option for either winners.
Would like to see Bute go ahead and knock Ward out ASAP. Ward's headbutt is his best punch and he would have his referee in his hometown as always, but Bute still knocks him out.
B-Hop makes the most sense for Bute now. He us a big name and he is well and truly shot, be a nice little earner to tie him over and he could also get bull**** title of "the only guy to KO Hopkins". The fight makes lots of sense for Bute. Let's face it, the world isn't his oyster right now while there is a Super Six going on. Or, highly unlikely, but I'll throw it out there, Sergio Martinez. I actually don't think Martinez would be afraid to move up and I don't think it would be a mismatch either. He could bounce around the ring all night pot shotting Bute. Would make him a superstar alongside Pac and Mayweather if he managed to win. If he lost, he still has his middleweight title to go back to. I'd welcome that but can't see it happening. Bute ain't leaving 168 so a fight with Dawson now is out of the question unless he was able to drop down which I seriously doubt.
According to some info on another thread Sergio Martinez claims that the only rounds he lost were rounds he gave Kelly Pavlik because he felt sorry for him. Based on that little tid bit, I'd really like to see a Bute/Martinez fight:yep
Nobody will give rounds for pity in a boxing match with 1 or 2 titles on the table. Martinez is a small middleweight , Bute is a big Super-middleweight.Martinez has other options in witch he doesn't have to go up in weight (ex: Williams , Sturm ) if he beats Pavlik again(I've heard that Kelly has a rematch clause). Welcome back booradley
Hey, what about Gabriel Campillo? He was fighting at 168lbs a year ago. He's the former WBA Light Heavyweight Champion and lost his belt to Shumenov by controversial decision. The WBA recently refused his appeal for a rematch. He might take a title shot at 168lbs.
What about Karo Murat that beat Campillo and has a fight for the WBO Inter-Continental light heavyweight title on May 1st
Martinez has one credible win on his record, and now he is rapidly turning into a dick who is more delusional than Froch. My previous post was sarcasm. Lucian would decapitate Martinez.
And by the way, that was one hell of an uppercut Bute threw Saturday night. Miranda went down like ya hit him with a Volvo!!
