Too true. That could be the impetus for the move back down to 147. Still, to talk such a high game about Pavlik and then decide to go back down to 147 to be avoided again.... i don't get it.
They were both bitches depending how you look at it. Pavlik hasn't fought anybody as of late, yet he is still consistently on PPV. That is complete BS and I know it has a lot to do with Arum as well. He needs a big fight against a legitimate contender.
No doubt. I can't believe that fight vs Espino was PPV. I will say this..... Pavlik and his people deserves the criticism they've gotten for the level of his competition the last few years.....aside form Hopkins. But I don't think he was avoiding Williams..... I believe the whole hand/ staph infection fight postponement debacle was legit. Unfortunate, but legit. I think Williams and his people had their confidence shaken by the Martinez fight...... I mean maybe not, but I can't find any other reason to head back to 147.
If you ask me, Paul is EXTREMELY lucky and he knows it. Everyone calling him the most avoided fighter on the planet made PW think he was untouchable when of course he wasn't. He was ALMOST found out by Martinez and now rightly he is re assessing things. He is lucky he got out of that fight with a win. Pavlik would have eviscerated him and where would he have gone from there?
I think you can scratch Williams off the list. When he beat an inactive and semi-retired Winky Wright that fooled a lot of us into thinking PW is a legit middleweight. Since the Martinez fight I honstly think Williams would lose to Sturm, Lopez, Gevor, and maybe Macklin. Pound for Pound PW is better than those guys, but he simply does not belong at 160. Goosen knows that too, and that is what instigated all the talk about going back to 147. Paul williams is a welterweight. I just hope for his sake that some of the other top welters will man the **** up and fight him. Arum and DiBella do good business together, and Martinez wants the fight with Pavlik. DiBella wants to make it happen as well. I doubt if a slippery little ******* like Martinez, who "lost" to Williams would be KP's first choice, but I think he'll sign if Arum, DiBella, and HBO can get the money end right. Sturm is currently walking around at 193 pounds, and he has a mandatory with Golovkin coming up. In addition, Karmazin/Miranda was a title eliminator, so Sturms next two mandatories are already waiting in line. Even without the 10 fight deal with a German TV station, I think we can scratch Sturm for the time being.
Ok, I'm settled now..... I think Martinez style would give Pavlik problems for say 5 or 6 rounds. ....... but ........ I think, his reach and power will eventually win out, and Martinez isn't a defensive whiz..... he will get hit. He will have to stay in constant motion to stay away from Pavlik, but still throw enough to try and get some points. it would be ill advised for him to try and trade with Pavlik. Martinez was gassed at the end vs Williams....... If he slows down like that against Pavlik it could end pretty quick. If he can somehow keep it up and land a few telling shots and keep Pavlik off of him, he could take a decision.
I was waiting for you or Hermit to get in on this....... it's not a Pavlik thread without Boo or Hermit.
Pavlikfan is next to be here..they all hate me because I said Pavlik has been fighting cab drivers as of late and I think he's overrated.
KP has some loyal fans too. Some are off the wall, but Boo and Hermit are ok..... and dish out some very cool info...... As for Sakio Bika's "wife"..... WTF?!....... Did he marry Greg " The Hammer" Valentine?
I have little interest in you or your opinions. Certainly not enough interest to "hate" you. You lost pretty much all your credibilty by sporting a "Mayweather Mafia" avatar; very childish. You lost your smidgen of remaining credibility when you had to ask "Who promotes Martinez?"
