Because he is 30 years old and a level or two above Skelton or Towers....It should all be about entertainment, who wants to pay to watch a one sided beating? Obviously some people do, but not me
he could defend his commonwealth against Alex Leapai or Carlos Takam both step ups but think price would beat both
Theres no point fighting people like Skelton. Completely past it. He won't get credit and it won't develop him either when Skelton just gets KO'd early or pulled out after a few rounds. He has to move on, the last 2 fights are evidence of this. If you don't move on after sparking 2 guys that are contenders at this level...I don't know when you do. It's a clear sign. I'd look at Pala, Pianeta, Sosnowki. Guys that are a step or so up and build towards a fight with Pulev whos very beatable too.
He is 28? So lets get him into a position where he fighting Klitschko after about 17 fights so he can get beat? Fighters need experience. People give Tyson Fury stick as well but Tyson is a kid and could potentially fight for 15 years, Pricey is older and probably only has 10 years max but why rush it.
Or Rasani? :tong I do agree with what you are saying though, Pricey is clearly above this level. Its just I think heavyweights seem to get progressed to quickly in this country.
Actually yeah, that's a **** idea. General idea remains though, theres nothing overly threatening about the average European contenders out there. Theres no massive risk, but its progress. Theres no use treading water when all the signs are you're fighting people out of their league.
When was he 30? you've obviously never boxed the Lonsdale is what most british fighters want, If i was him I'd go for the Lonsdale Belt its not like there's a big gulf in class between British to World level anyway especially in the Heavyweight division.
Its not rushing because he's not actually got anyone else in the UK who is realistically within his prce range at the moment. He's going to have to travel and take fights that might well challenge him....I don't understand the problem with taking a risk and getting beat ....you learn more from a good showing in a loss than you ever will by blasting people out. Hamilton showed the proper spirit in beating Theophane tonight.
Obviously not....who the **** is he going to fight and at the same time maintain his credibility? Towers (he might give it a go), Sprott?, Skelton?, McD rematch?.....there is a massive gulf between British and world level when you mention those names
He could either go down the European route or fight guys who were challengers or champions a few years ago. I think the best way for him to become a massive star is to build his record off beating former champions. Guys like Peter, Briggs, Chagaev, Ibragimov etc., who are there to be beaten by any prospect and don't pose as much threat as a guy like Helenius. It'd build his profile quicker, make him a bigger star and put him in a better position to get a world title shot.
