Because the K's wanted him before they believed him ready.
It's all about feeling in control for those guys, and ensuring the other guy knows the K's are running the show too.
They miscalculated with Chisora, and he didn't play their game.
I think Wlad will be pushing for a fight with Price within 6 months, and Price should turn it down.
One worrying reoccurring comment is this idea of rushing him.
Maloney mentioned it last night and today Price said he'd be ready for a world title fight after 3 more bouts, or 18 months or so.
Surely he should be looking for more than a fight every 6 months, especially with him blasting folk out within half distance.

He beat Sam Sexton in no way is he ready for Vitali. Get him in with someone like Jonathon Banks and stay around that level for 3 or so fights

Hype train overload!!!! Price would beat Povetkin? Ahaha Povetkin, fat slobby loser that he is, is 20x better than Sexton. I think Huck would beat Price at HW too.

Heavyweight being such a poor division puts Price in an awkward situation. Usually, someone who's just won the British title for the first time you'd want to keep at that level and clean out the division. But really with Chisora fighting Haye and Fury not interested, there is no test domestically for Price out there now. Sexton was the best of the rest and it was easy for him.

He's best looking at the likes of Pulev, Dimitrenko & Helenius next. The lack of depth of Heavyweight challengers means you can literally get a shot from nowhere, as Chisora proved. I've got to say I can't believe people think he should be in with Vitali or even Povetkin yet, that's still too early for me. He hasn't even had a testing fight yet. But Dimitrenko/Helenius etc would probably give him that and are certainly beatable as far as he is concerned.

No need to rush him with talk of Vitali yet. As has already been seen you can get a title shot at Heavyweight by doing far less than normally is expected at other weights but it's too big a jump for Price at this stage.

There is no point in him staying at domestic level. There are loads of
fights out there at European level which will make him more money and
    actually test him.

Very good post and I agree with this. He needs to go above British level and Dimitrenko would be a good choice maybe not for his next fight but maybe two or three down the line. Find a good European level fighter and see if he's tested. If not then keep moving him up the ladder gradually based on performance, the lad looked class last night!

I can remember a few years back when most people said on here that Price was **** and wouldn't do anything in boxing :-(

Price was superb last night, but Sexton really played into David's hands, what surprises me about Price is his hand speed, for such a big man he is quick, has variation, power, patience, and looks to be a good finisher, he looks like he could have it all.

Just need to see him really tested, unfortunately that is going to happen at Domestic level, so next up he should target Dimitrenko/Pulev, or even the guy who put Fury down and hurt him...I forget his name.

I'd really like to see him fight Abdusalamov. He thrashed him in the am's and I want to see if that will translate.

Oliver McCall - sure he's old and has smoked a lot of crack.

But he's a name everyone knows. If Price stopped him it would be news, otherwise he is going to give him rounds against an experienced durable HW.

Maloney has told Sky Sports News that he wants Price to win the Lonsdale belt outright. Domestically apart from Fury I don't see any decent fights for Price.

I wouldn't have a problem with that if it was the plan for the next 9 months, or take defences between a couple of Euro level fights, but both Maloney and Price are saying 3 fights in 18 months. It should be close to 5-6 bouts in that period.
