The last Dillian Whyte fight had a peak viewership of 60,000 people on Dazn. The numbers are the network are shockingly low. Dazn are focusing more and more on Youtube fights as they are doing far better numbers. An interesting fact is despite the budget and the money spend they have far less subscribers in the UK than Boxnation did.
Gone from doing 400k buys at £20 to 60k views on a streaming app. Hearn has properly bolloxed this one up.
Dazn will not release subscriber numbers or viewership numbers publicly as it will compromise their business. fighters have to sign contracts where any details relating to viewership can not be discussed. The last figure they released relating to Serano vs Taylor having over over 1 million people viewing the fight, included all territories across the globe. This was not a PPV figure, The figure for the UK was a fraction of this. Matchroom are struggling to get fighters to renew contracts, as it is becoming common knowledge in the industry that they have very little exposure on DAZN. The platform simply doesn't have the subscriber base. Eddie Hearn is fantastic promotor, but he benefited massively with the SKY contract. He is obviously very frustrated with rumours of KSI looking to exapand his promotional work with DAZN. The Youtube fights are generating far more views than the Matchroom events.
The website content looks like it could be yourself with a few photographs of boxers. Most of his coverage indicates to me that he has a tank over Box Office fights and viewing figures.
They are the viewing figures for people who watched on Sky Sports Main Event (full sports subscription required). The fight was also available for free on Mix and Showcase so will have done tens of thousands more on there. The tweet clearly states that too so no idea why you’re using it as a stick to batter Sky with
DAZN need to get more content. Matchroom and Hearn aren't doing a bad job but they can't do anything without some other sports on the channel. Yes it was available for free because Sky knew how low the viewing figures would be. Ben Shalom has said he wants to do a stadium world title fight with Billam-Smith. Disappointing for Sky, especially because they are now putting any decent main event - Taylor Catteral, Eubank Smith, on PPV.
They could have done 182k for all you know. Still far better than Dillian Whyte doing 60k. Are you saying nobody watched boxing on those 2 channels like the time you claimed nobody in Mexico watched Oscar Valdez v Shakur Stevenson
I can’t imagine many people caring about Billam-Smith. Fairly boring boxer. I know he’s a darling on here somehow but the bloke is hardly great to watch.
And free boxing is a bad thing? Maybe your hero Hearn should take note instead of fleecing people on Deadzone.
